To the south lies the factory in question. According to the intel, it's being held by body builders. No, not that kind. They literally construct bodies. To what end, unknown, but it's a waste of resources. The factory has to be cleared out, then repaired and brought online. RSX will handle the latter. The group is for the former.
It'd been a while since Otto had done anything for his old RSX Benefactors. He'd done his best to alienate himself from them, but the prospect of clearing out a factory, ripe with salvage and perfect for advancing one of the reasearches he was leading? It was just too good to pass up. The coyote had primed his weapons, cleaned and sharpened each and every one of them, then made his way to the spot where he would gather with the other agents heading into the facility. He had high hopes, and wondered if he would see any familiar faces. There didn't seem to be anyone around yet, though...
Fenris trots up wearing the upper half of a police uniform and a pleasant smile. The tubby tanuki rests his hands on his heavy utility belt and looks out over the factory. "Don't think I have ever heard of Body Builders quite like this," he says, "What do they do with a body once they have made it?" Fenris has no real connection to RSX, but this sounded like a suitable adventure!
Oh how lucky, based out of the prison in Woodfield, Cerris decides to respond to the RSX call as a representative of his crew and as an excuse to get away from the administrative duties he's been shirking since returning to the region.
Double checking his wrist mounted comm unit, he he verifies he's on the right track, quietly loping up to the muster point north of the staging ground. The scent of coyote put him on edge, but rather than voice his misgivings or resume open hosilities, he simply maintains his distance, pinging RSX to let them know he is on site and ready to commence house keeping.
Arris walks to the building from the east. Seeing a small smattering of agents already present in a group, sie approaches and attempts to listen in on any details sie can catch. Spotting Cerris, sie gives him a brief handwave before discreetly walking around the crowd and over to him. "Hey, you know what the details are for this mission?"
Cerris dips his head down to give Arris a verifying sniff before nodding his head "Looks pretty simple, there are things active in the factory...we make them inactive or evict them. Later RSX will come and clean up the mess they expect us to make. Easy day and a chance to say you did something to advance the return of civilisation on a larger scale."
"The body builders? Well, if they cooperate, all the better. If not, then we convince them to do so." Otto grins and cracks his knuckles once he spots the tanuki. He looked familiar somehow, though Otto could not immediately place him. Once more folks start to pool in, he nods and waves at them individually, sometimes moving in to shake hands here and there, exchange the obligatory pleasantries and mingle with the crowd. Once Eri shows up, the canine looks more than a little bit surprised to see her, and immediately moves in to give her a hug, his tail wagging excitedly behind him as he greets his close friend. That done, he clasps his paws and looks about the group. "Run in and clear it out for RSX. That's about it." he exclaims, then looks towards the building. "Let's get moving."
As if drawn by the sounds of jolly conversation out front, a rather strapped man with muscles on his muscles steps out from the darkness. Marring his tough look is the fact that he appears very much like he's in his sixties. Maybe that's just how his strain works? "What ho, have you come to sign up for gym membership?" His eyes fall to the smallest member of the group, Pelle. "We'll have you worked into shape at no time at all."
"Sure, sure," Fenris says with a pleasant smile, "No problem." The tanuki unslings his long, ornate spear from his back and starts in a bouncing trot toward the factory. No stealth. No plan. Just infinite optimism and a brass badge that reads SGT. CHUBBS. "Hullo!" he calls out, "Heard there was body building?"
Eri knew only of Otto's predictability and the margay simply follows her nose from that point forward, knowing just how Otto may get into trouble it was probably best he had a friend or two around and so the rather large margaytaur simply stalks after the coyote silently slinking after. Though offering a hug in turn of course with a purr!
Pelle flies out from one of the clouds and spots a group of people desiding to land beside dem, dran to this lokasjon she looks at the factory wer the mission is gona be held at, she wakes the rest of the way and greats the group "hi is thos wer i herd der to be a mission to cleer a factory?" the xanadu bird seams not well peperd for this mission weat only her armor on bot somting seams to be weard at curtem plases at her armor
The mutant almost bumps into Fenris, the two going towards one another. "Oh, that enthusiastic? Fantastic! There is an admission fee, but you look like you can handle that without an issue."
Fenris is pleased to find such a nice reception, though if he is surprised it does not show. "Great!" he says happily, reslinging his spear, "Don't know much about all this body building stuff. What's the fee? I have some cookies. And some tea bags. Then there was some other business, I think, but this sounds fun too!"
Otto snerks as he watches Fenris' antics. He crosses his arms and shakes his head "I was told the body builders were not literal body builders. Are you going to take us into the factory if we shell out the admission fee?"
Arris nods, looking at the mutant emerging from the shadows, then back at Cerris. "You think we might have gotten the wrong place? I mean, they said it was body building, but in a more literal sense." Sie pauses, looking at the entrance to the factory, then speaking to Cerris a bit more quietly. "Between you and me, I'd rather not go for a workout. My looks aren't pulled off by working, it's from keeping the chubbiness on."
He hikes a thumb inside. "Just some scrap. Metal, electronics, the like. We have to keep this place running after all, and it won't do that on just good intentions, we tried that." He laughs at his own joke as he turns to the factory. "Just some from each of you to keep cover the upkeep, then we can head inside and get to making a new you!"
"New me huh?" Otto grins and reaches into his pack to retrieve some salvage. The coyote was already a master of his own physical form, so he couldn't help but be a little bit intrigued by what they'd find inside. Who knows, perhaps there was something new to be learned about physical fitness here. Then again... they have to kinda sorta clear out the damn building for RSX to claim it, so perhaps pointing that out to their bombastic muscular new friend would not put a smile on his face. "Sure, let's see what ya got. Will this do?" the coyote presents a few choice pieces of usable salvage.
Cerris decides that discretion is the better part of valor and despite being quite large, he lowers himself on his six limbs and responds to Arris' concerns with a simple plan.
"If intel doesn't match up it means RSX screwed up, or the guy in front of us is selling us a lie. Let's see if we can get in without playing to his tune, we'll keep you plump and lumpy...for now assume he plans to body snatch you or force you into a surrogate self to be later built."
That said, Cerris places the others between him and the host, his form distorting and blurring as he attempts to cloak himself in the illussion of being a rather rotund pink panda using nanomagic.
Fenris shrugs. He is willing to go with the flow. Especially if it means getting out of here without violence. The burly tanuki opens a pouch on his belt and produces a coil of wire. "Is this enough?" he asks, "I can't wait to get started!"
Eri simply hums draping her four rather burly arms around Otto's shoulders hugging him into her bouncy fluffy rows of cleavage a very affectionate embrace if not also trapping his arms at his sides or something and just barely absorbs most of his body in thick amounts of golden floof, though if anything the mighty titan of a feline relatively twice the coyote's size if not more made the 'powerless' agent appear not entirely like a mouse caught by a lioness. And with a purr the feline simply lay her chin upon his head and sat her tauric rear down while she but simply cuddle the canine caught within her grasp. "I need to talk to you about something later today if you don't mind~" The feline whispers into his ears before giving one a lick!
Arris nods to Cerris. "Right behind you." Sie puts the rotund tanuki between hir and the presumed bodybuilder, before using hir Nanite Adept powers to shift to a chameleon and camouflage.
The bodybuilder gladly accepts the salvage given. "Good bits," he murmurs, flipping a broken LCD screen in his hands before he looks ready to lead the way. "Let's start the tour. I hope you're ready to sweat a little, because it's very hot where we're going." And off he goes. Once past the entrance, the place appears to be lit with dimly-glowing electric lamps, the sort that you can wind up when they run low. It really is a factory. A car factory? It made something big, and heavy pots of molten metal are being moved around by other burly folk, men and women. As befits Woodfield, there are no furry sorts around. They're all idealized humans.
Fenris looks around with good-natured interest, taking in all the sights, sounds and smells. The heat does not seem to bother him much. "Where are the weights and things?" he asks amiably, "Or do you just work in the factory for exercise?"
Otto giggles quietly and licks Eri's cheek, then nods to her and whispers "Ofcourse, Eri. But let's just focus on the mission for now." With a wide smile and a wagging tail does he part from the margay, before resting his paw on the submachine gun at his side and following their new bodybuilder friend into the structure. Who knows what wonders awaited them within?!
He got his answer pretty quickly indeed, a sharp whistle escapes the coyote's lips as he looks around the interior, visibly impressed that the place was even a little functional! It reminded him of one of his favorite places around, namely the blazing depths of the Hell Forge, where he regularly went to tussle with the mutants among the streams of molten metal, rocking out to the sounds of brutal metal in the background. It was a strange place, but Otto loved it! He cared not for the heat, and walked with a kick in his step and a smile on his face. "Nice setup you got here, err... we didn't quite catch your name there, fella!"
Cerris uses his illussion disguised self as a means to space things out for Arris when he pays his way and heads inside, trying to ensure at least one pair of free hands are available. Sure this was billed as a smash and grab, but there may yet be a another way to handle the situation and for that reason he turn to his keen senses to try and notice anything out of place in the facory once inside. I mean other than a coed steel works in this day and age...what next, it turns into a disco?
Pelle wonders to the bodybuilder and offers a bit of mecanikal and electronic salvage "will this be ok, mey i enter as the odders did?"
Arris quickly unzips hir swimsuit and discards it behind a tree before sie follows after the group, keeping the group between hirself and the bodybuilder. Sie glances around the repurposed factory as they go past, beginning to fan hirself with hir hand once they reach the smelting area.
The bodybuilder is glad to accept all 'donations' to their effort. "As you can see, they're working on a body right now." With a great splashing, the pot of molten metal is poured out into a huge basin shaped just so, not that one can see what that shape may be. "We take pride in every one we make, and today you'll join us! It's so rare we get people willing to lend a hand and get a great workout doing it."
Eri letting Otto out of her cleavage and free of her hug the margay taur merely hoists Otto up and then onto her tauric half before marching forth with various broken gun parts in hand to spend for the salvage costs, passing it to their host before wandering for the hot gates and farther along, since she has such stalwart and wary companions the feline chooses not to worry. Though she does eventually say. "I feel like we're going to be building some sort of giant robot..."
"Oh, I see." Otto nods in understanding once the picture becomes clear. "Folks came here to work the heavy machinery and get a proper workout, then? Hell, I could go for a good..." he interrupts himself once Eri speaks up behind him "That'd be pretty badass, wouldn't it though?" he smiles at her, then returns his attention to the group. The others seemed a bit more on-edge than he or Fenris were. "So listen... is there a superior we can talk to around here, or do we just speak with you? Because you see, as great as the workout sounds, we're actually here on business."
Pelle will folow dose the group filing a bit alone she wonders closer to the taur and the coyote
Fenris's smile does not waver. "Oh! I was confused!" he says, "I thought you were going to help us build our own bodies. Who are you building bodies for?" The tanuki stands on tip toe, trying to see into the bins and crucibles, trying to figure out what is being made. "I mean," he continues, "Do you take commissions? I think that Woodfield and RSX were sort of hoping to get you to make some stuff for them."
Many heads turn at the mention of a superior. The one that led them in laughs softly. "Not that kind of superior, guys, get back to work." They laugh and grumble, but get back to it in seemingly good spirits. "We're a bit of a commune here. Nobody's 'in charge' per se. If something needs to be decided, we have a meeting and hash it out, you know?" His attention slides over to Fenris. "You need a body? We can do that! We just need a mold to work with and enough metal to pour in and we'll have all the bodies you need. You trade with that electronic money, yes? Credits?"
"Yeah, credits. Our benefactor has a lot of those, and tons of salvage." Otto shrugs as he looks around. Seems that they'd be getting things easy this time around, as the fellow giving them the tour was quite friendly and open to cooperation. How wonderful. "We're here on behalf of RSX to see if we can use this facility to manufacture multitudes of metallic bodies for a certain project we are working on, and if folks around here are willing to make them, then all the better. I'm sure we can strike a deal, heck I'd be interested in working here, myself!"
Clap! He brings his hands together. "Fantastic! Only one thing then. We don't work for people who are small and weak, so we trust you won't mind working the day, showing us what you have, eh? It takes real strength! Real durability! This close to the heat, nanites get burnt to a crisp, so don't expect them to save you. Only your own power will get you through. You up for it?!" He sounds quite excited about it. "C'mon! Let's get that workout I promised." And off he goes, ready to work.
"Yeah, sure," Fenris says, "I can do credits. Don't know that I need a body built though. You have any finished stuff to look at?" The tanuki perks up at the mention of a challenge. "I'm game!" he says, reaching up and removing the studs from his ears and suddenly growing! Then he trots after the tour guide.
Eri narrows her eyes as she simply stares off into the factory. "A test how exciting... though I feel my fur being singed already...." The feline whispers though her eyes looking for walkways and catwalks. "Chainmail would be pretty cool to have...."
Arris shrugs, seeing their tour guide get excited. The chameleon walks over to Cerris before whispering to him again. "He doesn't seem too too bad. Suppose we're in the clear now?"
"You bet, I am so ready for this!" Otto exclaims, his voice booming with enthusiasm once their muscular new friend stats what was needed. The coyote was no stranger to an intense workout, and he felt right at home in a place like this! He removes his upper coverings, tunic and shoes alike and tucks them away in his pack, leaving only his pants for modesty's sake, and a few weapons on the side.
Pelle will perks opp at the menson of somting fun and looks to her self as her ekuipment bekoms viseble bot its dosent botter her muth as she runs after the tur guide and will tray and deal weat it as best she kan
Cerris nods to Arris, his illusionary form warping and distorting and finally discarded in favor of speaking to her with telepathic nanomagic instead to maintain her stealth. [Yeah, take a look around, see if you can find anything useful or sinister going down.]
With a grunt, the massive lupineish beast soldier uses his tails to to take hand holds so he may use all six limbs to muscle the massive meetal objects about, his minor heat adaption heling him resist exaustion with the aid of his relatively immense strength.
As it turns, no, they really do seem to be running a factory. The oddest part is that they are making car bodies... and none of the other parts. Just shell after shell of cars in great piles.
Otto realizes that he would not be able to do much when it comes to moving the metal pots, which was grunt work for oversized mutants that lacked his finesse, so he settles in with the crew and starts to work that muscular frame of his. He easily handles the various molds, helps pry the cooled metal out and easily lends his bulk to help pull the chains and work the various mechanisms of the factory. It was hard, but rewarding work, and Otto was having a good time with the other crewmembers~
Arris nods, following Cerris onto the factory floor, but splitting off from him to take a look around the room. Closed-off rooms, small alcove-type areas, chests, if it can contain something sie wouldn't normally sie, sie takes a closer look at it.
Fenris's police uniform ripples like a heat wave, and when it comes back into focus, the tanuki is wearing a power-lifter belt and an undersized wife-beater instead. Must be a tanuki thing. He gets to work along with the others, heaving heavy objects and hauling chains. "Why all the car bodies?" he asks once he finally sees what the only thing they are producing is, "Is there a lot of demand for that kind of thing?"
One of the workers beside Fenris shrugs a bit. "It's what we got molds of, so it's what we make. What else is this place for?"
Pelle is doing her best to work as hard as she kan and doing wat she kan do
"Stuff you could actually turn a profit by selling, perhaps? Engine blocks, cast iron components for various devices that are still in use around Fairhaven?" Otto snerks, "I've yet to see a working car around town... though with the new fancy tech out and about now, who knows!"
"So, if we were to get you other molds," Fenris hazards, "You could make other stuff? I mean, would you LIKE to make other things? I just ask out of curiousity." The tubby tanuki hauls a heavy chain back to its place, slung over his broad shoulders. He is not invested in RSX, and definitely not interested in evicting a peaceful bunch of mutants.
Eri keeps her mouth shut on what she thinks but instead the margay simply follows Otto's lead as unmotivated as she may be. Opposite of Otto whilst lifting the molds or moving the metal around entirely by hand what seemed more like something that would happen before the advent of computerized machinery. The labor of the 1900's around the time of world war one and two. Though she at least mirrors Otto as best she can manage if not but to help with shifting the burden of him, and sparing him the strains and sprains to come....
"If you have molds, let's see 'em," grouses the worker before he moves to start climbing up towards a higher bit of machinery. "We do what we can, and it's a good workout. Who's to complain?"
"well I'm not complaining, that's for sure." Otto grins as he moves over towards the next mold in need of prying. "I spent all my time lifting weights in Zephyr's wellness center, I could have been here working up a good sweat instead. But yeah, we have a few things we'd like you folks to start making, and I am guessing RSX have the molds for them, or at least the designs." he shrugs, then gets back to his work.
Cerris soon realises that there is nothing to these morons other than low carb intake and protein milkshake, while he does continue working, he radios in using his radiotelepathic abilities on the frequency that summoned them to report the demeanor of the Gene superiors hosting the place and the disposition and satus of the factory, finishing up with the fact that RSX can literally hand them new mods and get the work they want done for the cost of machinery maiintenance and ssupplies...likely more if they throw in some whey powder or something.
Pelle will help enny one ho nid help if she spots sombody having truble she will help out the best she kan and will tray and ckeap her self to less heavier works
Fenris can't argue with that. "The coyote has a point," the tanuki says, "I bet you could even get some funding from RSX to do some work for them while you get your workout! It's a win-win!" He hefts another empty crucible and starts humping it over to its place.
Arris walks back to the main production area, giving Cerris a tap on the shoulder before whispering to him again. "Couldn't find anything in the back. Just... lots of car parts. I think they were cars, anyway." Sie glances away, looking at a car hood getting manufactured. "...yeah, car parts. Definately."
After a full shift, a whistle sounds and the machinery comes to a halt, which it must since those pulling the chains and otherwise moving it stops with heavy sighs and start to stretch out, working out the kinks built up with a day of heavy labor. "Dinner's on!" comes the call, and people get to hurrying for that, except one, the older gent that they had met originally.
"You think so? Well, I don't know 'RSX' much beside that building they keep fortified. No workouts there. You lot seem alright though. Nice workout. You can feel the burn, I bet, right?"
Eri claps her paws together with every mold or chuck of metal she puts down looking over her paws every so often too like she were worried about them "Shouldn't we have glove Otto? Metal splinters would take forever to go away.." Though the margay by now unamused by this place and it shows on her face with down cast eyes watching only what she's doing. Though the sudden halt in productivity sparks humors in her eyes again as the curiosity build, though following after Otto footpaw for footpaw.
When the machinery stops, so does Cerris, taking the time to arch his back and fan the unseen Arris with his tails as he responds nonverbally [Very good, this time things turned out to be on the level, but never be afraid to look at the man behind the screen...sometime there really is a wizard...other times you just get some asshole from kansas named Oz."
"OH YEAH!" Otto exclaims and flexes powerfully, then relaxes his frame and shakes his arms a little to loosen up his satisfyingly sore muscles. "That was great. Thanks for having us." he nods, then looks over to Eri "Ah, sorry, hon... we'll get these sorted, but you did so well!" he yips happily, then returns his glance to their muscular new friend "So, do we have a deal, good sir? I believe we can both benefit from this."
Fenris grins at the older Body Builder. "Sure!" he says, flexing big, sort of rounded biceps, "It's a good burn, right?" The tanuki fishes around under his belt and replaces the emerald studs he was wearing earlier and shrinks down to normal human size. He let's Otto do the negotiating, especially since food is mentioned. "Are we invited to dinner?" he asks, hopefully.
"Only fair. You work, you eat," he agrees with Fenris. To Otto, he seems less sure. "Are one of you speaking for these RSX people? Otherwise they have to pass the test on their own."
Pelle wen the machinery stopes she looks for the odder agens and wonder to em streting out as she wonders over to em "it felt like if i wernt as heat resistent as i em i wod probely be on the egde of going unconsues" she will look at the older gent "wod der be food for oss as well?"
Arris smiles as Cerris begins fanning hir. "Thanks much. Suppose I should decloak and change back to my normal form?" Sie stretches hir arms out, perking up at the mention of food and directing hir attention to the previous tour guide.
"Well..." Otto looks to the side, a little unsure about what he was about to say. Wait, no! This was no time for uncertainty. He came here to strike a deal, and a deal he would strike! Forgetting his attire for now, he states the trugh of the matter, seeing as he wasn't the best liar. "I'm not one of their agents, but I have strong ties with RSX. What do I need to do to make this deal happen?" the brimming with determination canine asks.
Cerris busies himself with updating RSX on the current conversation Otto and the metal worker are having. To Arris he sugest "If you have the nanites for it, I'd advise genetic superior human, it will make them much more friendly to you."
Arris hmms. "You think they'll notice if I just slip right in? Going as my normal infection, I mean. ...Are any of them naked? I left my clothes outside to camoflage properly."
Cerris laughs, his mirth a deep rolling rumble "Woodfield has no animal forms, just humans, angels, elves and so forth...so yeah...a naked river dweller is gonna stick out."
"Huh, well, that's good. Just have 'em come on down and work a shift, then we can get to talking. Tell 'em to mention you so we know they're coming and we'll put them right to work." He clapped his big hands. "As for your, uh... extra bits. You've already proved you're all workers, so go on, eat."
Fenris, still in his powerlifting outfit, that seems to have shrunk right along with him, remaining tight on his heavy pecs and round belly. "What are we having?" Fenris asks trotting after the body builders.
