Hawkins was never a complicated man. He did his job to the specifications given to him, and didn't make waves. If Tau was in charge, he was in charge, regardless of what he or the others thought of it. Hawkins was only two weeks from returning home to his family, and he didn't want to do anything that would jepeordize that. He glanced to Tau as he was inspecting his equipment before picking up two small boxes, examining them for a minute, then putting one in his pack and the other under his bunk. "Sir," he said as he stood at attention. *Two more weeks...*

Tau says "At ease." and then follows up with "We're here to investigate and quell the riots if possible. We're leaving at 0900, so get your things ready." He wasn't sure he was ready for this. But he didn't have a choice did he? Well...it wasn't like they were going into a warzone, this was just a homeside disturbance. He could handle something like that. Of course there was still danger...

Cliff comes back to attention as Tau left and finished up his checks on his comunications gear and riffle. He looks at Hawkins. It seemed that he was only going throug the motions since he was short. He hoped his attitude didn't bite them all in the ass, "You up for this Hawk?"

Hawk nods and stretches a bit. "Yeah, I'm good." Hawkins was actually more than just good. He had been holding back a bit the past couple of weeks, though not so much that it would hurt his performance. Hawkins had no desire to draw any attention to himself, positive, or negative. As they say: the squeaky wheel gets the grease. The less he stood out, the better.

Tau went back to his quarters and to work on his own equipment. There had been a lot of noises in the distance. He thought they sounded animal, and that worried him. There was nothiing for it really but to wait and see. Soon enough 9 o'clock came and everyone shipped out. For now, they were going down two blocks to scope things out. As they traveled, the ambient noise of a city was now replaced with that of a jungle. Something was terribly wrong. Tau was sure he saw a burning building in the distance. A high rise.

Cliff nods at Hawkins, "That's good to hear. God I hated civil distrubance training, so damn many things that could go wrong. I hope we dont need to escalate force levels too far." The fact that they were issued riffles instead of riot gear raised the potential of this turning into Kent State levels of bad much higher. He sure as hell hopped they issued rubber bullets, tear gas and flash bangs otherwise this had the potential to turn into a major snafu. Cliff was wondering what all the animal sounds were about. Did the rioters spring open the gates to the zoo? He adressed Tau in a wisper as they continued, "Do you want me to call this in, sir?"

Hawkins glances at his rifle. "Same here. I never liked the idea of pointing a weapon at the people we're supposed to protect." Hawkins didn't like the idea of pointing a weapon at anyone, actually. He joined the military because...well, because it was the best option available to him at the time. His family never had much money, and his academic proficiency was mediocre, at best, so going to college outright wasn't going to happen...not without digging a financial hole for himself that he knew he wasn't going to be able to get out of any time soon. So, rather than a life of indentured servitude to some bankers who already had too much money, Hawkins decided to enlist and let good old Uncle Sam foot the bill for his education.

Tau gave a silent nod. Something beasts and fires should mentioned, yes. It was too quiet though, were the riots in another part of- Something moved in his peripheral vision nd he turns to spot a...the...hell is that thing? A mascot character? No, it was moving to fluidly to...He raises his gun as it began moving towards them, and as it came closer it became clearer that it wasn't a costume and something out of a horrible fever dream.

Cliff keyed his mike, "Echo three mike this is victor seven serria, over." only static replied, "Echo three mike this is victor seven serria. We have animal sounds and fires in grid 5894 by 3098. Contact! We have contact with potential rioter, over." Again only static, "This is victor seven serria out." He adresses Tau as he snaps his riffle to ready position, "Negative contact with echo three mike sir! Either they're having commo problems or their over ran with rioters." No one would dress as an animal during a riot. As the creature approached he noticed that it didn't look like a costume, "Orders, sir?"

Hawkins saw the approaching creature and squinted a bit. It looked...off for some reason. It clearly wasn't a costume, but something about it just didn't sit well with him. He was prepared to fire a rubber bullet or two in case a rioter became overly violent, but not to fight off something more...lively.

Tau orders "Fire!" and as they do the...dog thing? yelps loudly and falls over in pain. "Subdue 'em!" He shouts and runs forward to pin it. As he got closer, he was disturbed to see that it really wasn't a costume. The husky woman whined and pulled itself off the ground in front of the stunned soldier. "P-please! Puppies~" She begs as she moves to a kneel. He backs away and raises his rifle. "Put your hands above your head, Ma'am!" It felt weird adressing this inhuman thing like a person.

Cliff complies with Tau's order and opens fire concentrating on the belly and legs of the rioter. The riotor made a realistic yelping sound and fell over. *Must be some kind of idiot furry.* He thinks. He approaches riffle aimed at the rioter to cover while Hawk puts the plastic riot cuffs on. As it became clear that this wasn't someone in a suit, he thought, *What the fuck is going on here? I'm begining to think some vital intellegence was witheld.* He continues to cover and backs away with Tau, *Damn the kid seems to be doing alright despite the snafu.*

Hawkins hit the potentially hostile canine in the shoulder, and chuckled a bit as she mentioned puppies. "Puppies? What about them? You pregnant or something?" He still felt uneasy as he approached her from behind and held her down while Cliff bound her hands. He wasn't going to get near her mouth, regardless of what she was. His sister was a biter as a kid, and he wasn't going to go through that again. *Just tie the crazy--person?--up and worry about what she is later.* He thought.
