Science. They do what they must because they can or the good of everyone (except the ones who are dead).

The labs are very clean, as always, with uninfected human scientists roaming around in their tightly sealed suits. There's surprisingly not a lot of machines present, just the bare minimum of hardware. And a suspicious chair in the middle of the room.

Alkain hmms as he peeks into workshop, having heard there'd be a demonstration, and walks in. He looks around curiously and nods to the scientists, "I heard there is a demonstration going on?"

After receiving a notice Arlan snagged one of the few reservations available for field agents about this new technology out of the Zephyr labs. A veteran field agent, he no longer felt any need or desire to dress up for such affairs, and came in wearing hs standard jeans, T-shirt, boots and duster.

Aqua slowly steps into the room, a senior tech taking one look at her and quickly moving to look at a display, sighing softly she moves to join the other two agents for the demonstration.

The question received no answer. Instead the scientists mill about and affix straps to the chair. This doesn't look very good, does it. "Thank you for coming. We'll be bringing out the test materials momentarily. We ask that you maintain at least ten feet of distance for the time being."

Alkain looks at the others and nods in greeting, "Hello." he looks over at the chair and shakes his head, "At least I'm not going to be sitting there..." he backs away from it as he hears the request

"Don't count on it, you might even be voluntarily sitting there before the day is done. Stranger things have happened, keep an open mind," Arlan mused idly, waiting for the technicians to finish setting up whatever it was they were proposing to demonstrate. He hoped it would be something he'd find useful in establishing the production center in Eureka.

The woman backs up as requested, shuddering as she recalls a time she was once in a chair like that... subconciously rubbing the back of her neck, at the base of her skull, scared up under her hair. before nodding back "Hello." Soft and gentle, but abit sad, she keeps a eye on each scientest, as if expecting them to ambush her at anytime.

The scientists bring out a pretty big freaking needle full of some kind of silvery fluid. They set it on a tray wheeled out next to the chair and then look to the crowd. The lead scientist speaks up. "Alright. According to your files...and bloodworks" All of them look at Alkain. "Would you kindly sit in this seat? Trust us, the injection isn't for you."

Alkain smiles at Aqua and nods before he's approached, "Uh... Well, what's going to happen?" he eyes the needle and shakes his head, "Umm... If it's not going to hurt... Sure." he looks wary though

Arlan raises an eyebrow, wondering just what sort of demonstration this was turning into. He sincerely hoped that the organizers were being careful here.

The scientists wait for Alkain to sit before strapping him in good and tight. "Alright. Now..." A scientist checks a clipboard and looks at Arlan. "Step forward please. You're in the Nanite Adept program, yes?"

After a brief pause Arlan answered, and asked, "Yes, I am. What do you need?"

Alkain sits in the chair and blinks as he's strapped down, "Comforting..." being sarcastic of course, he looks over at Arlan as he's told to step forward and sighs as his tails twitch agaitatedly

Aqua slowly backs up until her back is against the wall near the door, watching the proceedings from a healthy distance and still keeping her eye's on each person moving about the room. obviously nervous, but doing her best to not be disruptive to the event.

the Scientist, this one in a yellow suit, picks up the needle. "Hold out your arm please. This is an experimental serum that we hope will further exend the abilities of a nanite adept." That...sounds like unfun times for Alkain, being in the chair and all.

Alkain blinks at the scientists and looks to Arlan, "Oh yay..." he can sense that this'll be fun apparently

"I sure hope this isn't risky. I'm a veteran, field agent, and chief of the Corundum Engineering section of Zephyr that's participating in the Eureka project," Arlan grumbled pessimistically before deftly removing his duster in one, quick motion that left it wrapped around his right arm. He then slowly extended his left arm palm up for the expected needle.

Aqua watches on, looking both conserned and excited by the unknown happening before her, if it works she would be called in for a upgrade again, but if it failed...

It stings. Then it burns. The injection given to Arlan feels like a wildfire spreading through the body. Its brief thankfully. "Please remember that this is still an experiment and we're working on some things like...making it less unpleasant to receive. Could you focus on the subject in the chair please, and think about shifting a body part?"

Alkain blinks at the scientists and sighs, "I shouldn't have agreed..." he blinks as his arms shift and winces, "Ok, at least it didn't hurt..." he looks at his new hands and flexs them a little, "Interesting at least..."

"It is kinda unpleasant, maybe this can help with high-pressure interrogations?" Arlan joked stoically. It was obvious that he was in a fair bit of pain from it but that it would also take something considerably worse to get him to drop his sense of humour.

Aqua blinks at the change in the kitsune, looking confused. "So... what happened?" She looks abit curious and wary at the proceedings.

The nerds start taking notes, buzzing around Alkain and Arlan. Its hard to see what's going on. "Okay, try another."

Alkain looks at Aqua and shrugs as best he can, "Um, is it really nessacery to have me straped to this chair?" he looks confused, but at least he isn't being hurt

Arlan apparently found his first experience with this new nanite fiddling technique to be rather a bit more to deal with than he was expecting. Quickly squirming his whole body through three seconds of yoga stretching first, Arlan dropped to the floor into a full-lotus sitting position and stared intently at at Alkain's legs, as though trying to will something to happen.

And so it does, though how the scientists react it could be quite disturbing. Their murmuring and scribbling on clipboards. "Good, good. And one last time. This data is going to be very useful. Then we'll give you the counteragent...can't have you carrying the prototype of a product that hasn't been made official yet."

Alkain blinks at his legs and shakes his head, "Oookaay... Um, while this is interesting and all... You are going to let me out of this chair after this next one right?"

"Be thankful this isn't an extended trial," Arlan muttered in response to Alkain's complaint before turning his attention to Alkain's head and staring into his eyes. It was not the most friendly, or even unfriendly stare: It was just too focused on... doing... more of that thing... to Alkain.

Aqua mumbles something low under her breath, but watches the events from much closer then she was, curious again as she even risks getting closer to a scientist to see more. Curious by the robot arm and latex pool attached to the kitsune.

Yes indeed, shifting is an exhausting thing. But now that these eggheads are done, they quickly slip Arlan another needle when he's not looking. The counteragent one may assume. That one didn't hurt, thankfully. It was like diving into a frozen lake for ten seconds. "Thank you for your participation. We'll make some final notes and adjust the product as needed. For now, we'll see if the other subject returns to normal on their own."
