The pale light of a full moon pierces the leaves of the canopy, and the murky, inky black of night. The thick trees of the dark forest and brush hide the ground path beneath heavy growth of dew kissed bushes and shrubs distant howling, and wailing filled the cool foggy air of black forest.

That server was being guarded. Guarded by a ten foot creature that was sent here some time back. He doesn't know the significance of it, but...orders are orders and food is being given for a successful defense. The Iguana/Komodo hybrid doesn't know what's coming or he might have crapped right then and there.

Liana immediately jumps into the bushes off the path after landing, her skin shifting, becoming smoother, then adapting to match the foilage in hue as she scouts a short ways ahead of the rest of the group. Her radio is switched off until she meets with the group to prevent an accidental sending revealing her location.

Following not far behind the chimera of at least four... no wait five... different species is a large solar dragon. His normally shimmering scales are muted, a combination of mud, dirt, and camoflage paint keeping him from standing out, his form covered in a camoflage shirt with trousers, helping him to blend in with the surroundings - though not nearly as well as their scout. He watches his footing and steps through with a professional ease, a massive rifle pointed ahead of him in a professional grip, eyes scanning for any signs of the ferals rumored to be located here... or for any RSX agents.

Twitch moves slowly through the grass, the high powered rifle set against his shoulder as he is careful to make slow movements... Scanning over every bush and tree as he makes his way. His chain sword, and stun baton tied down tightly to his thighs, so as to avoid unneccisary noise. Silently he makes a note to put in a requisition order for a few grenades, and tear gas canisters if they still had any. His fur blotted and grimed down to an almost black color... As far as need for support, twitch couldn't pass up the gun bunny form. He cautiously adjusts his pack filled with extra munitons, as he follows behind the solar dragon.

Fenris breathes deeply of the cool night air. He doesn't remember much about who he was before p-day, but he thinks he must have always liked the forest at night. The (most of the time) tiger sighs. Too bad they aren't there for a peaceful night-hike. Fenris straightens his coat over his armor and checks his weapons. He loosens his nearly invisible Ashendari sword-staff in it's straps and gets ready for when things get messy. Things always get messy.

The wind flowed though the trees all around and rustled the leaves, while the crickles and insects chittered and called all around, where it would otherwise be entirely silent, and everything was next to impossible to see if not for the few beams of silvery light that fell through the trees. The air was refreshing and calm after mere moments, and not a thing in sight. Only the path barely visible before you.

The large reptilian hybrid was not used to midnight guarding, but there was plenty of sleep had in the hours before the guard duty had been assigned. Still, it would not be guard duty without some patrolling involved, so he moves away from his fellow ferals and moves about on all sixes, the wind probably betraying him to any very sensitive noses with his fairly unique scent. Not many lizards out here.

Liana smiles and lets out a soft sigh of relief as the group behind her tried it's best to be quiet. She looks a bit impressed by the over-sized guns the men are lugging around. Her own weapon is slung across her back, too heavy to carry about until it's time to use it. She keeps about thirty feet ahead of the group, occasionally slipping a hand out of the brush to let the others see her position. While she doesn't have night vision any better than a normal human, her visor does highlight anything that moves through it. The faster the movement, the clearer the outline. She slows a bit as they leave the drop zone, starting to take her time and actually be stealthy now.

Arano continued to look around, trying to see if he could spot anything - his weapon pans around: modeled after the Mk14-EBR, but plus sized to fit his frame, and chambered in 25mm, a good gun that definently requires a plus sized individual to wield properly. He keeps as low as possible and pays close attention to his surroundings, trying to see if he can spot anything moving, preparing himself for what he figured would be inevitable contact.

Twitch keeps himself behind Arano, letting the larger individual serve as his shield and cover. The large high caliber rifle, which is gazed at from an outside perspective would appear to be of .50 cal is shouldered easily... As comfortable to twitch as part of his body thanks to the mutation. His gaze has turned to just to the side of Arano for if incoming fire occurs... With two before him, the ammo junkies job was to simply focus on what was going on -now- and not what was lurking around. He's careful when he pulls back the bolt to his rifle, verifying a round is chambered as he continues on... Awaiting their messy arrival to come.

Fenris shakes his head at his companions dragging themselves through the bushes. he trusts his feline form and natural camoflage to keep him hidden as they travel and his feline feet to travel quietly. Swimming through the foliage probably won't help much against against ferals. Most of them can't set very sophisticated traps, and if this really was a feral settlement, they probably have enough problems at home that they won't scout out very far. He shudders a little at the vague memories of his own time as a feral. He's glad that THOSE memories were lost. Even so, he keeps a sharp eye on the path ahead and a sharper ear on the trees around and above him. It would just be embarassing to fall into a trap or ambush at this point.

Accompanied only by the breeze within the trees, nothing seemed to be around save for shadows, brush, leaves and trees as far as the eye could peirce the inky black, though a clearing could be seen far away as the silvery light of the moon poured freely upon the ground, though the low hanging branches of the trees blocked any farther view. Though without warning Fenris's foot slips into a pothole!

The large, ten foot reptile continues that patrol around the perimeter of his chosen zone. It is roughly a fifty square foot perimeter that is followed, deviating slightly if a building or other structure gets in the way.

Liana winces as Fenri's half trips, then looks around quickly...not hearing anything respond to the slight noise. She unfolds her arm-blades, flipping them up to rest under her hands. She's thinks she can make out a bit of clearing ahead, staying low to the ground as she moves closer, listening very carefully for any sounds, and looking for signs of movement, visor helping her track any actual motion in line of sight...

Arano glances back towards Fenris and then glances forwards, weapon following his gaze as he looks for anything. He does spot the clearing, but moves forwards towards the server all the same, stuck behind Liana as they continue walking and walking and walking and walking and... honestly, something needs to try to kill him already because this walking is getting boring. This must be what Vietnam felt like... he looked towards the clearing, planning on crawling right up to the edge so that he could get a good idea of what's going on there while staying as out of sight as possible.

Fenris unconciously makes a little hop as he avoids the ankle killer in the road. They should have at least been able to HEAR the settlement by now. Something isn't right. He scans the trees carefully, taking his Ashendari from its straps.

Twitch doesn't deviate from his spot behind Arano, though when they approach the near the edge of the field, he slows and falls back behind a tree so as to remain slightly back in his support role... if he was needed up close when the shots rang out, it wouldn't be hard for him to get close... As it was, the walking armory that he was would only give them away if he got too close to that edge. At least until the others verified it was clear.

The clearing was only afew yards ahead, and nothing seemed to be in sight anywhere, Just black trees brush and leaves. And that silver gilding whispering with the flow of wind. Though the entire scenery was ominous, and very pretty, the forest seemed entirely empty, lacking all signs of life, other then the beaten path you were on. (Other then Grorvog)

The patrol didn't even take very long to complete, what with it being a short curcuit around the block, so to speak. The lone guardian of the treasure hoard (ha!) returns to his post in due time only to rise to his ten foot height and stretch with a deep yawn, all four arms and thick muscular body, along with the visible masuline bits, on full display to anyone who would be within sight. He's not hiding anywhere, standing in the light as he is. After the stretch there is a casual scratch below the belt, too. wiggle-wiggle-wiggle.

Liana immediately drops to all fours as she spots the movement in the clearing, skittering to the side while staying low. With slow, careful movements she reaches up and removes the small cannon strapped to her back, flipping the tripod beneath it out and setting it in place, though she hasn't stood yet. She looks back to the rest of the group, wating for one of the more beefy ones to do something

Arano follows behind Liana, keeping low as he moves towards the edge of the clearing and, after clearing the treeline, starts to crawl forward, getting just to the edge, staying out of sight as much as possible and staying in the foliage. His weapon out and trained on the figure who is... ok, seriously? And one lone guard? That's it? Looking towards Liana, he gets close so as not to be overheard and whispers to her, "So... think I should shoot him in the dick? I'll admit I'm also tempted to rush out there and scream 'leroy jenkins' and create a distraction."

Twitch keeps himself pressed against the tree, ears twitching as he listens to the other two with a smirk. He places himself in a position where he can rush out easily, when the shots start firing of course.

Fenris is worried now. He drops back to crouch with the others. "This can't be right," he whispers to the others. "One idiot brute on guard? And where is the server? I think we've been set up." He searches carefully for the trap. There has to be a trap. He readies himself for a fight. Or not a fight. He tries very hard to be ready for everything and nothing all at once. It is a very Zen experience.

Grorvog stood beneath the one tree just outside the clearing and all around him or rather just outside the tree's shade was knee high grass, the wind blowing waves of through-out the wild grass, painted pale silver by the moon's light, cool crisp air greeted the lungs with every breath, it was quiet soothing and tranquil out on this particular night, almost otherworldly, disconnected from the troubles of life.

Liana slowly slinks upwards to man the portable cannon of hers. "Well, guardian or not, this thing is way too big to let wander around so close to woodfield. I say we nuke it, then hide again and wait a few minutes....and if it's tougher than it looks, also run away again. Thoughts?" She's careful to speak her S's and T's quietly, knowing those sounds are the ones best carried over distances.

After the large reptile's scratching is completed he settles to all sixes once again. This reveals that the head is a Komodo's in nature even though the body literally screams iguana. Seems this one is just waiting for something to happen, for he isn't even looking in the direction of the forest, and it really doesn't take long for him to rise again to work his way up into the lowest branch of the tree. This has him turning around to actually face in the group's direction to take the ten feet to get there and start climbing. How oblivious this one is to the danger.

Arano shrugs a bit and takes aim, using the irons of his weapon to point his rifle at the big creature and confirms, "So... shoot it in the dick then?" he asks quietly. He then takes aim and considers for a moment, "...if it's just one dumbass we should probably go for a quiet takedown, I pull the trigger and everything in a half-mile will know something is up. Or perhaps even avoid him, I hate leaving targets at my back but..." he doesn't finish, not that he really needs to anyway. He keeps his rifle trained and waits for the good word before he begins shooting.

Twitch shakes his head. "Gunfire will attract more. If we fire, we gun and run, grab the server, then call for pick up. Best to just lock and load." He carefully reslings his rifle, and fastens it down tightly before pulling the two SMGs from his hips. He checks the magazine in each to ensure they are ready to rock, before lifting the cloth mask to cover the lower portion of his face. "... Besides. Too large for quiet."

Fenris nods to the others. "Fine," he says. "Let's do this fast. Arano, can you carry a server alone?" He is ready to shift forms if needs be. "I would rather keep my hands free, but I can help if you need it."

The lizard disappeared, as he climbed the tree though didn't go very high, however, no one bothered to check behind them and with all that whispering, who knows what fell creature was an arms length away. All around the group was the dark black of the silent forest as the wind stopped. And yet all attention was pointed to the one thing they could see.

Grorvog wasn't really gone, just up in the tree where he could be shot down, captured, or whatever if the group wanted to do so. It wouldn't take much even if he is cradled against the trunk and the one limb. His tail hangs down under the branch, swaying lazily.

Liana growls softly...her gun could only aim up so far. She scoops it up and refolds the tripod, securing it to her back once more. Turning around to face the others of the group she lets out a little sigh. "I can't see how RSX isn't already here and swarming if this Godzilla-wannabe is all that's guarding the server...unless, maybe they already got the server and left?" She looks between the group members, then idly looks back along the path they took.

Twitch draws a line across his throat as he looks to Liana. "It's too late. We don't get paid for leaving jobs half done. Let's go, ice him, and verify. Worst comes to worse, we're signaling an evac as we depart." He hefts up his SMGs. "And I don't need to reinforce how much the higher ups will be pissed if we back out without verifying." His tone low as he looks to Liana, before motioning out to the field. "In, and out."

Fenris eyes widen. There it is. The trap. Bad info, or maybe RSX has already been and gone. "Fine, move," he hisses. The tiger is ready to take to the sky at a moment's notice if things get too bad, though.

The forest whispered to Grorvog, though he couldn't see Liana, Twitch, or Fenris. The clink of armor against guns and the softly said words were clear in the still night air. And not to far away a husky girl posed outside with him wandered out of the clearing a football field away.

For the group however the forest was black if not for the small shreds of light that fell over the forest floor ever so often, though nothing appeared be behind the company, and nothing ahead, save the one lizard in the tree.

Grorvog heard the voices within the forest and he turned his head slightly. He let out a hiss that came from the core, a long and drawn out sound that a feral would make to ward off intruders. Right after that he shifts slowly to roll out of the tree, clutching the branch he was on so he could hang down with his primary claws dug in. His weight made even that thick limb bend downward and he was exposed to those within the forest. Peering out to the tree line he calls out in a harsh-sounding and gutteral tongue. This one is not able to be understood, but it has been heard by at least one member of the group here. It is repeated again, the head swiveling to encompass the entire length of the wooded area.

Liana looks like she's about to say something when the loud hiss is heard behind her. She whirls around, unhooking her gun and propping it up again in seconds. She looks back with a little grin. 'You may want to cover your ears!" She turns back, adjusts the weapon's aim, then fires! The whole rig bucks backwards, shaking the scout rather hard despite the shock absorbers built into it. A smooth mass of metal the size of a large fist goes flying with a shockingly loud BANG, headed towards feral at bullet speed!

Twitch flinches as the rifle fires, looking to Liana he shrugs his pack of munition free... The bag itself was markless, so if he got to retrieve it great, if not oh well. Then he is off, breaking free of the tree line as he begins his dash up towards the beast... His SMGs ready to play as he closed the distance, his ears still ringing from the shot... He can only hope the tiger had decided to follow close as well. This had to be quick.

Fenris dashes into the clearing searching and hoping and praying that there is SOMETHING to see. He knows full well, that he only has a few seconds before this place fills with ferals wanting one of two things that Fenris is unwilling to give them. He tries a quick shot toward the reptile's tree with his laser pistol, not really expecting to hit. He is useless with the thing.

The forest was silent though your ears rang and birds flew from the trees. The lizard just barely touched by the single lethal round from the rifle, while every other weapon missed entirely. And nothing seemed to happen, still a silent night, on some grassy hill or was it a cliff? There was a clear drop off on one side and a slope going down the other with trees all around this grassy clearing.

The one husky girl rapidly vanished into the trees and out of sight, leaving Grorvog alone against three blood thirsty agents!

The lizard's secondary hands shot upward and the head went downward at the same time, earholes clutched while they immediately bled from the ruptured eardrums brought on by the sudden and /very/ loud blast by that rifle, cannon, or whatever the thing happened to be. The round from the thing grazed his body, a spray of blood flying from the injury, however slight, to the left primary arm close to the shoulder. It causes him to lose his grip on the branch and drop to the ground hard, landing on his back. His mouth opens and closes, though whether he is making a sound is debatable thanks to the lack of hearing. Easy target for those who still want to go after him, stunned as he is.

Liana scoops the cannin back up and snaps it into place on her back, scrambling to keep up with the other two. Her wings flutter with each step to let her get more distance from it, giving her an apperance of running in low gravity.

Twitch stumbles slightly into a pothole, but is back on his dash in no time. He slows as he approachs the stunned giant, and levels both of his SMGs at him... He wasn't about to take a chance with his life. His fingers pull hard on the triggers as he goes to unload both magazines into the large lizard man... Hopefully allowing Fenris the chance he would need to verify the server's presence.

"Blood and bloody ashes!" Fenris swears, knowing that no one can hear. This WAS a set-up! There is nothing here! If the ferals around here had a server, and he was beginning to doubt that they did, they had already moved it or passed it along to RSX. He gives the clearing one last scan as hea waves and heads to the cliff's edge. Zephyr would have to be satisfied with their report and a quick aerial survey as the operatives got out of here. As he ran, he hoped that Twitch had wings hidden somewhere and that they hadn't killed the poor thug who had the misfortune of meeting them tonight.

To the poor soul to survival a blast from a cannon, Grorvog was riddled with a hail of bullets. Blasts and splatters of blood flow everywhere as the poor helpless lizard was being made into bloodied hamburger, hot lead slamming into his guts and ribcage, his hips, crazy amounts of bullets flying everywhere into the ground and this poor now deaf lizard.

Unfortunately, however, Fenris quickly discovers that the cliff wasn't all that big or steep, at least 12 feet from the top to bottom and easy to climb. Making things worse seems how a swarm of creatures were running his way towards the cliff and slope. Huskys, wolves, canines of many many shapes and sizes came running, both male and female dressed... and some not so dressed, and many more stayed behind. But the settlement was there, it was nothing more then 4 log cabins and 2 of them had two stories, sheds, garage/barn like buildings. It was nothing more then a remote camp site, likely a vacation home type thing or hunting grounds for some rich bastard before P-day.

Grorvog could not hear the approach of the Bunny. He could not hear anything beyond the dull ringing in his ears. His eyes were closed, but they opened again when he sensed a presence close by, a presence that held two steel weapons of death. He couldn't hear them as the bunny let loose with their clips, all of them plunging into his body. Belly, chest, shoulders, even collarbone. Every single strike sent stinging pain throughout his system and his blood sprayed about, body jerking spasmodically. When the clips were empty, the beast was still breathing but had a lot of holes to show for it. The hold the hands had on the head was lost during this and the head rests on the ground. He had tried to cry out in the agony he was feeling, but there was no breath thanks to landing so hard on his back. Instinct finally kicks in and that whip-like tail lashes out, lashing at the legs of the attackers aimlessly. If any of it connects it would feel just like that, a whip striking something. Will he be finished off by these equally deaf opponents, or shall he be rescued?

Liana hisses at the news of there being no server, slowing down as the beast thrashes. She hadn't yet seen over the hill or Fenris's reaction. "So that's it? We came here on some prank call, and end up beathing the crap out of some feral minding his own business?"

Twitch couldn't truly hear Liana. His hearing was returning slowly, but he was in a zone now. His gaze snapping to find Fenris waving and making his hand motions and running to the cliff... Before the tail smacks his leg, forcing him onto his back and pissing him off. He drops the empty SMGs and reaches to the pistols holstered around his ankles, going to pull the one on his right free and level it at the suffering creatures head. A clean job, sadly meant a clean job. With that final thought, his finger pulls hard on the trigger again, to hopefully end the creatures misery.

As the great Hellboy once said, "Crap." He dives back toward the others gesticulating wildly to get the hell outta Dodge. Upon seeing the flailing, badly injured lizard, he feels his heart sink and his gorge rise. More bad choices. Damn. Fenris spreads his wings and flaps hard, trying to gain altitude and get out of here before the horde behind can catch up. Triggering his control of the area's nanites he urges them to heal his throbbing ears and his companions. And the prone lizard. He saw Twitch pull the trigger, but maybe he could still save a life. He might work for Zephyr now, but he still believes in the Promethean ideals. "Get out! Now!" he calls down as he soars over the treetops.

The lizard dead, with a hole in his head, creased to move and lay still, and still bleeding while his heart had yet to get the news his mind was gone.

However the swarm of canines soon climbed the cliff face and to the top of the slope just moments after Fenris took flight. There had to be at least one hundred of the, some on two legs some on four. There were shepards, huskies, wolves of all kind, painted and otherwise, canines seemed to just pour over that hill stopping only a moment's pause. The calm before the storm, before they all rushed after the party of 3 Zypher agents, barking, growling, and even yipping as they rushed over. The agents pull back with the new information, nothing in their orders about taking on a small army of potentially feral mutants.
