It had been a short while since Jestar last played with his little kitsune and he'd not found the blindfolded kit wandering the streets as he'd hoped. It took some time but even the addled mind of the masked satyr wasn't enough to make him forget the first meeting he had with the meditating fox. Crouched low to the ground and slowly moving forward, Jestar took in deep breaths, searching for Cheren's scent intently in the shrine the fox had mentioned calling home.
Cheren sat at the edge of the curative springs, meditating. As usual, he's blindfolded and has his wisps circling him. Not as usual, he seems to be a latex version of himself. If you didn't recognize him, you could almost mistake him for a statue.
Jestar caught sight of the familiarly latexed kitsune and closed in on him. Rather than pouncing however like the second time they had met, Jestar closed in and lower to sit beside Cheren. Watching the kitsune silently, Jestar took in the fox's posture as well as the dancing lights. As it turned out, being a lion as opposed to something domesticated seemed to help suppress that pouncing urge.
Cheren continues meditating for a few more moments before one of the wisps disappears and he moves a bit before talking. "Looks like that's it..." he doesn't take the blindfold off yet, but appears to be looking around for some reason.
Jestar nods his head before sweeping a foot in the water, his voice a bit more of a rumbling tone as he speaks. "Found you, I have." Jestar said before lightly tapping a clawed finger against the kitsune's forehead.
Cheren seems a little surprised as the other wisp disappears and he takes off his blindfold. "Oh, hey."
Jestar smiles beneath his mask before leaning toward the kitsune and sniffing him to make sure his scent is still strong on the latex-sune. "Alone, why is it you are?" Jestar questioned, looking over the area to make a point of not seeing anymore, and obviously the wisps didn't count. "Too cute to be alone, you are."
Cheren blushes a bit before looking around. "I usually meditate alone, helps me focus. If there's a lot of people it's harder to stay focused."
Jestar smirks a bit and shrugs his shoulders at that response. "Always meditating, you are. Yes." Jestar explains before he reaches to lightly stroke a hand along the kitsune's head and scratch behind the fox's ears. "Stay with you I will."
Cheren lets out a small chuckle when you accuse him of always meditating. "Well, I do it once a day, and then if I get bored I'll do it sometimes."
"Important to you, focus must be." Jestar said as he tilted his head and for a moment, stroked a finger along the edge of his ask in thought before that wide, sharp-toothed grin showed again. "Important to me as well, it is."
Cheren nods. "Well, it helps me to keep the nanites from changing my mind too much, plus its an important part of being a kitsune..."
Jestar nods his head a bit as he leans away for a moment and closes his eyes. "Without focus, no longer would I be me." Jestar states before leaning forward a bit and blowing a bit of fire as he sighs. "A blessing and a curse, these nanites are."
Cheren nods in agreement. "Yeah, if they didn't alter mindset, they would be great, there wouldn't be much problem with them... Not counting some of the ones in woodfield, at least..." he shudders at the thought.
Jestar gave a shudder of his own at the memory of the things he'd come across there.. "Nightstalkers, strangely cute they are." Jestar commented before frowning deeply as he added. "The trolls, not so much."
Cheren lets out a small laugh at what you mentioned. "I'm guessing you haven't run into the Hydick or..." he shudders. "The Walking Vagina. They both basically turn your entire body into a collection of sexual organs..."
Jestar's mask could only disguise so much, and the look of raw horror playing on his face before he covered his mask with a hand and looked to the cleansing pool. "To woodfield, never shall I return..."
Cheren shakes his head. "As far as I know both of those only appear in one area, which I believe is the basement of a church at the end of a graveyard. I mean, there's something slightly similar to the vagina here in Fairhaven, the Parasitic Plant. It has three vaginas in the normal spot, it's asshole becomes a cunt, and worse of all, the mouth also becomes a pussy."
Jestar listened, but with little joy at Cheren's 'comforting' words. Covering the kitsune's muzzle, Jestar shook his head slowly. "Soon enough, never will I leave New Dawn's safety." Jestar warned, some things being too strange and scary to consider looking upon with anything less than a portable flame thrower.
Cheren nods. "yeah, I got it... Of course, being a nanite adept includes me turning entirely into any mutation I run into to master it, so..." he shudders. "We should probably change the subject."
Jestar thinks on what that something else would or should be, not needing long to do it as the something to talk about came in the form of a small fluff ball of gold and white fur lunging from the brush to latch onto Jestar and scramble around to his chest. "Talk about Fel, we can." Jestar states with a bit of a laugh.
Cheren looks a little confused. "Fel? Who's that?"
Jestar smiled a bit and dragged the small feline from his chest before she could latch onto him and try getting a meal all over again. "Fel, this is." Jestar explains before turning the kitten to face Cheren.
Cheren looks at her. "Oh, she's cute. I don't have any pets or anything..."
Jestar blinks at that and raises a brow slightly as he watches the Cheren for a moment. "A pet you will need. Even one as infectious as Fel."
Cheren nods. "Yeah, I want a pet, but... Don't know anywhere to get one. '
Jestar tilts his head as he watches Cheren before raising a brow. "A Fel, we should find for you."
Cheren nods. "Yeah, maybe..." you can notice that he has seemingly replaced his old chainsword.
Jestar looks the kitsune over, taking note before lightly pressing a finger to the new weapon Cheren carried with him. "More shiny, this has become."
Cheren looks at it. "Oh, this is actually a new weapon I made, better than my old chainsword." he draws it.
Jestar rests his kitten down into his lap, tilting his head to one side, Jestar reached for his belt but simply held up the edge of his new shirt and pointed to his fresh pair of jeans. "Gave me these, the mallrats did."
Cheren looks at them. "Nice, I actually joined the Rats for their crafting recipes." he looks over the sword. "It's got some microthrusters. If I swing it to the beat of a song or sonething, I can swing it very fast."
Jestar blinks a bit at that and chuckles a little to himself. "Music driven swordplay." The jester sums it up, biting back the urge to chuckle at the very idea of a sword that responds to a beat.
Cheren nods, chuckling a little himself. "I don't know why I felt the urge to make it, just kinda felt like my battles should have a bit more rhythm to them, you know? '
Jestar nods his head in agreement before tapping a finger against the ground. "Less and less, I use weapons. The nanites are winning, this I fear." Jestar explains while holding up a hand and looking at it, the nails of his fingers having grown to sharp points.
Cheren nods. "I use my mutant abilities more myself, but I still use weapons sometimes. Mutant powers just seem to be more powerful most of the time."
Jestar clenches his fist before lowering it down and lightly brushing his knuckles along Fel's back as she rests in his lap. "Powerful they are. Weapons feel less useful in the face of abilities coming from within."
Cheren rubs his head. "I've never really worried bout getting lost to the nanites, I don't know why but I'm always able to keep myself mentally stable
Jestar frowns for a moment before closing his eyes. "A constant fight, I must endure. Raking his claws at my mind, the feral within does so even now."
Cheren sighs. "Yeah, I don't know why, but I've never had problems with feeling strong feral urges... Sometimes I let them go if I'm being really submissive, but I can find myself again easily.... Have you considered meditating? Recollecting your thoughts can help a ton."
Jestar shakes his head slightly with a frown. "Like this, I speak. An effort in focus, it can be."
Cheren nods, looking slightly suprised. "Oh, so that's why you talk like that..."
Jestar nods once more. "At New Dawn, I learned of it. Many books they left with me to read as I recovered." Jestar explained, smiling a bit fondly at those memories.
Cheren nods. "Right, I think I saw people talking like that in books before, I don't read much though."
Jestar smiles a bit as he nods. "A book a day, I read now. Then, at times I was locked away with not but books." Jestar explains before shaking his head. "Lust, hunger, and books. For weeks, my life that was."
Cheren seems a little suprised. "That must have sucked..." he looks a little sad for you. "Hey, you know if you ever need someone to talk to about this losing yourself to the nanites thing, I'm here."
Jestar smiles broadly at that and closes his eyes for a moment before he shakes his head. "My time locked away, in ways, saved me." Jestar states before stroking a hand along his arm slowly. "From myself, reading spared me."
Cheren looks a little confused. "How so?"
Jestar tilts his head back for a moment before flopping back, landing squarely on his back against the ground and letting out a sigh. "Books are thought, thoughts I needed. Searching for what I need, I always am. This mask, I needed. Tales, I needed. Fel, I needed." Jestar states , shifting a bit so his lion's tail could flick free and into view. "This skin, I needed."
Cheren nods. "Having something you can identify yourself by is one of the best ways to keep your sanity."
Jestar touches his mask at that, for once pulling it free of his nearly completely human face and turning it over in his hands. His mouth was far wider than a humans, and of course there were those lion-like ears of his peeking from his wavy hair as well. "Before the Prometheans, found me this mask did. Hidden away in a chest it was."
Cheren looks a little surprised at seeing you without your mask. "Huh..."
Jestar glances at you and tilts his head to one side, those golden eyes examining your face for a moment. "Yes?"
Cheren shakes his head. "It's nothing..."
Jestar watches you for a moment before looking down at his mask and drawing it back to his face, adjusting it a moment to ensure it was locked into place.
Cheren looks around. "Wanna go explore the city a bit? I'm getting a little tired of just sitting here..."
Jestar presses with an arm to force himself back up until he can climb to his feet. "Sound nice, walking does."
Cheren gets up himself. "Anywhere you might wanna go?"
Jestar closes his eyes to think for a moment while his kitten circles at his feet. "Find a Fel for you, we could. Simply wander the roads for inspiration we could as well."
Cheren nods. "Finding a pet sounds nice. The wisps are good for battle, but not so good for inspiration."
Cheren sits down somewhere in the Lobby.
Jestar clasps a leash to your neck before pulling you along, leading the way to the library toward the south of town. It wasn't much, but it was the closest thing to home that Jestar had and his home was in the upper floors of the library. Guiding you up the emergency stairs and along the hallway, Jestar opens one of the doors that leads into what, once, may have been an office. Rather than a desk, there was a pile of blankets in the baywindow with a throw pillow. "Let me stay here, they do."
Cheren follows you in, giving a few waves to some of the skunks as you pull him along. "This is kinda nice..."
Jestar nods with a bit of a smile, giving some slack on the leash and walking to the bookshelf left in the room, lightly stroking a hand over the books that were gathered there. "Nice, it is. Safe it is too."
Cheren looks around, and as the kitten suckles on his chest, he turns anything it infects into a mechanical mephit part. "I know some of the skunks here, actually."
Jestar glances at you when you mention that and smiles gently. "Nice they are."
"Dunno why, but I prefer to be shifted into a mephit form when I'm here or in the skunkworks... Yeah, they are pretty nice, I did a few favors for them too."
Jestar watches the shift taking place and tilts his head to one side before walking to his makeshift bed and sitting on it. "Your first mutation, what was it?"
Cheren doesn't even seem to have to think. He leans back a bit, holding the back of his head with his large hand-paws,the red glowing lines on the obvious and looking quite high tech. "I woke up in New Dawn as Latex Fox."
Jestar taps a finger against his chest with a bit of a laugh. "Skunk."
Cheren nods. "This infection is called Mechanical Mephit, it's pretty cool looking, but the groin is kinda... Obvious, if you know what I mean."
Jestar nods with a bit of a smirk. "Met them, I have." Jestar explains while patting the space beside himself. "Gathered parts from them, I have as well."
Cheren nods. "I usually don't collect parts from mutants, seems kinda cruel to me..." the lights behind his ears flash slowly as he thinks and continues fighting off the Felinoid's infectious suckling.
Jestar nodded a bit slowly with a frown. "I chose only those no longer... flashing." Jestar explained before sighing a bit. "Needed they were, by a rat named Rod."
"Oh, okay, I thought you meant you like, knocked them out and forcibly dismantled them or something... If they're dead, that's fine... I met Rod too, he's cool."
