The RSX Forward operating base was a simple tent outside of the Customer Show room. Vehicles were parked in a protective circle leading to the tent, Humans armed to the teeth were sitting around everywhere, upon seeing any nonhuman they each gripped thier guns tighter. A short man with a large scar on his face waiting outside the tent for the various inhuman mutan- loving volunteers to come to aid of RSX in their time of need.
Dal is flying through the sky as usual. "Okay, how the heck did I manage to get slightly lost. I should be able to spot a large gathering of people from up here like that one ove-...Oh." The dragoness begins to dive down closer to the base, but stops upon seeing the guns. "Okay, I better be careful about this." She lands a good distance away from them and slowly walks over to the tent with her hands in the air. She calls out to them, "Please don't shoot! I'm only here to help out."
Klynor strust up nonchantly , looking down at a piece of paper in his hands then up at the tent. "This must be the place" he mutters. Looking at the heavily armed guard he turns his attention to the largest on he can and see calling out "Relax big fella, I'm only here to help out." He then takes notice of the Solar dragon and gives he a small nod of acknowdlgment and awaits . For something to happen.
Cerris comes onto the scene at a run, for all intents and purposes he was human...as long as you ignored the inhumanly huge muscles that bulged rippled and otherwise made him out to be a giant chocolate Atlas award winning hero in a sweat suit?
It should be mentioned that he has a pretty little peacock held over one shoulder, their lengthy train of feathers hanging over one shoulder as he used a single palm like a seat belt to keep them sitting primly next to his head.
Guns meant little to him, but for his companion he slows down when he sees the others being held at bay.
"Colonel Cerris Voss, USMC Hard Corps and local prison warden, what seems to be the problem here?"
Fe'ath arrived with Cerris - if one could actually call being carried upon a shoulder as arriving 'with' someone. To first impressions it might look like Cerris was carrying a feral, although a second closer look would soon dispel the notion: the bird had arms and hands, one of which was holding onto his head, the other clinging to his ear, the long plume of tailfeathers flowing behind the racing hurculean like a fluttery irridescent cloak. Nervous but alert eyes dart from the armed soldiers that Cerris was approaching, to the others that had also halted nearby. "Well, looks like we're not the only ones here to help, at least," the peacock murmurs, largely to Cerris ear but loud enough for others to hear still.
Aether skids into the compound, short on breath as they come to a sliding halt by the gathering of people. Their scent wafted after them, a slight sweet smell like sugar, barely noticable in the air. They pant for breath, holding up a finger to dissuade questions for a second or two so they could regain their composture. Still a little short for breath, they speak up. "This...this is the meeting place, right? For that thing I heard about over the radio? I didn't miss it, did I?"
The RSX soldier lowered their guns upon seeing that Dal was capable of speech, he was one of the mutant they were supposed to be civil too. They weren't sure what to make of the golden dragon but it's wasn't firing at them or... heaven forbid spewing unsavory liquids at them. The second abomination was a host of confusing mutation, Klynor had arrived and a few soldier looked at their leader with a wish in their hearts that this one was a creature they could shoot guilty free but they groaned once he spoke, another freak to the party. The leader gave an annoyed tsk seeing the next creature that ran into the area, a familar and not very liked creature but well known from his usual reporting statment. Another Soldier near the back looked at Cerris with a nod as he readied the vehicle. The soldier don't feel as nervous when the final sweet smelling aid comes to the group, once they are all assembled the leader speaks. "As you all know from the call of aid, there has been a massive amount of salvage and food stolen from our caravans comming from woodfield. We have grown weary of trying to fight them off and they have proven to have a high level of coordination not normally seen in the local mutants. We only have accounts of a shadow dragon and several white and black mutations which could only be skunk girls. There may be a stronger mutant among them one capable of tearing open a van quickly enough that our reenforcments could not arrive quickly enough. Instead of trying to pacify them by searching this city we have decided to form an ambush using a decoy van with all of you in it, we will have an operative driving the van. At the moment of attack elminate or subdue the attacker. We need the roads clear to continue aiding folk out here and getting this shithole in a better state. Any questions?" He pauses waiting on questions. "You will be riding in this convey with Operative Jamal. We appreicate you assistance in this troubling time." He said before opening up the nearly truck size vans.
Dal sighs for a moment, "Honestly, I would have preferred to fly for this one since I came here via flight and it might be easier to just attack from the sky for me, but I'll go along with your plans since they will most likely see me first." The golden scaled dragoness steps into the van with a small smile on her face. "I'll have to be careful this time though."
The oversized dragon turns to face the strange looking alien. "So, are you going to ride with me for this one?"
Klynor ccoly, "Flying sounds like a good idea. But I didnt think Rod would send me out here to do a freebie." He turns attentions to the soldier "Any kind of loot or cut on this one? I've got gambling debts and a five headed water hydra at home to feed" He says putting on his best doe eyes.
Cerris nods slowly as he takes in the mission briefing. Sure, he'd had his share of run ins with the more trigger happy newbies, but he'd worked with the corp before so he knew how they operated.
"Got it, classic ambush and cleansing. We got this then, Good to be with you Jamal!"
A hand gives his shoulder rider a less than appropriate pat on the rump as warning before his digits close around their waist and lift them up and over to sit in the crook of his elbows as he moves to hunch into the transport and eventually lower the bird to his lap.
"Just sit tight, stay behind me when the fighting starts and keep the small fry from riding me like my name was Blaster."
Fe'ath looks with some distaste at the van. Space was going to be at a premium, as perhaps was fresh air when the doors were closed. "The plan's sound I suppose. We all have to make sacrifices it seems." For the peacock that involved being literally manhandled, one or two more indignant noises coming from the bird's throat before settling down in the lap, with the large train of tailfeathers bunched up to one side so as to not get in the way overmuch. "Hey, I'm here to help too, and I'm not scared of getting my claws a little dirty you know? Let's just see what we're up against? And do you know the others?"
Aether, nervous to be left out, squeezed into the transport after everyone. "This is so exciting!" they said as they settled down into their seat. "I mean, it's not every day that you're asked to bodyguard a convoy. I wonder what we'll see this time? Maybe that dragon they were talking about." They sighed whistfully. "That would be a sight to see." They buckled their seatbelt, as an added precaution.
"You will be compensated for your work. Dont' worry about that. RSX is not in the habit of short changing anyone. If it has to come out of my pocket I'll make sure that you are paid." The short man says while other soldiers nods and tip thier helmets. Jamal chuckles and looks at the group, "Quiet a lot of friends you've made here. Makes monitoring you that much easier." He got into the drives seat of the vehicle before starting it up.
The ride was relatively smooth as the convoy circled the city and arrived back at the highway before returning to the entrance of the high way and leading a convoy of empty vans. The was a sudden shift in the driver demenor, "Ok. We are arrive at the normally spot where the attack everyone stay on your P's and-" A Large steaming glob of Black ichor hit the truck with such for that Jamal swerved in the streets. The sounds of chitter laughter hit the party like a klaxon call. The window were completely covered as Jamal hit a large puddle of skunk Ichor. "SHIIIIIIIIIT!" Jamal called out as the van over turned and the back door opened with to allow the group a view of a Shadow dragon with small remenants of a Police officer uniform attached. The Dragon eyes had a gleam of intelligence to it as he roar flames into life. Everyone managed to get out of the way of the oil, with the exception of the driver who had been knocked unconcious and Klynor who doesn't react fast enough. The other Vans are being set upon by nearly twenty rabid skunk girls.
The initail invaders are easily repeled by the combined might of the surprise attack. The RSX support seems to have little trouble supressing their own skunks. The Dragon spread his wings on lands on a small shop, he spreads his wings and makes a come hither guesture to the group before dropping into a hole one the rooftop. Jamal manages to climb out of the vechicle with minor burns. "I think that dick is the leader. Try to take him out but be careful going after him."
Dal grins after walking out of the vehicle. "This should be fun. Well, since I'm you aren't open to reason at the moment." The dragoness stands her ground as she promptly sends a wave of energy over to the team on her side. After a nice bit of concentration, a small shield covers the entire group. "Well, now that that's taken care of."
The dragoness promptly flies up into the air and begins doing what most dragons are known for, which in this case, is sending a nice wave of solar powered fire from her maw directly to the shadow dragon on top of the small shop.
Klynor looks around the wreckage and his nose seems to recoil a little."Ya know I never got the whole skunk smell thing." Turning his attention to the menacing looking dragon he shakes his wizard hat while looking downwards. "A fucking dragon, wait till I tell Rod about this" he mutters to himself. "So who's got ideas, I'm not really a critical thinker, if ya know what I mean.He reaches into his jacket and takes out a single ciggaret and lights it before looking back at the group.
Cerris picks up one of the torn off doors and flings it at the vanishing drake before turning around to check on Fe'ath and the others.
Everything had gone fairly smoothly.
"Okay let's take the direct route here. Goldy follow the drake through the roof, Sparky, Fe'ath you're with me, I'm going to try and make a door. The rest, cover our asses."
Grabbing the other ruined door he charges the storefront using the door like a riot shield, fully intending to plow right through.
"Let's see whatcha can do now Birdy"
Fe'ath was slightly bruised from being tumbled around with a rolling van and the other occupants, but it was largely the fight that turned out to be more bruising for the bird. Feathers in disarray and a couple of long tail plumes having been shed, the peacock clicks their beak in irritation, squeezing out from the van and out into the open air. No matter how stuffy the insides of the van might have been in the short trip, it was unbearable with the scent of skunk. It at least was tolerable in the open, the bird panting with excitement and exertion after the brief conflict and keeping out from underfoot. Frequently its gaze turns to the building the shadow dragon had vanished into, rather apprehensive. "In for a penny, in for a pound," the bird obscurely quips, rather more slower in following Cerris with a notable lack of enthusiasm.
Aether cracks their knuckles, looking surprised when they made noise. "I guess my wish came true! I get to see one of those shadow dragons with my own eyes." They crack a smile, following the rest of the party into the fray, eager for some fighting.
The Solar dragon fire smashed into the roof of the building long after the Shadow dragon jumped inside. As the top of the building burned from the assualt the bottom floor the building rumbled as a massive form of Cerris crashed through the door. The area was quiet but there was a hole leading down into the sewers, open food containers and other RSX supplies could be seen, even a large solar panel had been stolen and set on the side. The hole seems to be nearly inviting but the soft splashing coming from the tunnel.
Dal watches Cerris run directly into the building and shouts in dismay, "Oh fuck!" The dragoness instantly flies over to the bottom of the building and runs inside directly after Cerris while she notices the sewar. "Cerris! I set the roof on fire when I attacked the shadow dragon!" Thankfully, the dragoness was a bit used to the heat, but she wasn't two certain about anyone else. She instantly turns around and calls out. "Head inside the burning building! There is a sewer in here and they escaped underground."
Klynor jogs in the wake of Cerris taking a quick puff his smoke before tossing it out. "I like your style , man." he says to giant. Quickly surveyong the burning building he spots the hole that the solar dragon must have been talking about. Throwing caution to the wind he yells "Ready or not here I come", as he jumps into the sewer.
Cerris grunts, looking around as he jerks one direction then the other, hyped up to smash things with his fists but finding no targets he slams down the door in a rush of feral frustration.
"Some escaped into the Sewers, Big Dog giving pursuit, first floor has our goods. Might be good for someone to play recovery. Sprky has already gone ahead. Everyone else, follow the leader. Goldy what's going on up there?"
Waiting for a few more beats to give Klynor a chance to clear the landing point he leaps feet first into the hole.
Fe'ath glances at Jamal, hesitating before following Cerris and Dal and going into the building. "You think your guys will be okay out here? I think we're going to chase the dragon wherever it's gone. Hopefully we'll be back soon." Concerned for the other soldiers made the peacock hesitate make sure the rest were okay before it hastily ducks past Dal and follow the others into the sewers before it gets left behind. The smell might be strong down there, but thankfully it's not something the bird had to worry overmuch about. The fire was another matter, so it never lingered in case of burning debris.
Aether muttered to themselves, running into the building. "Yea, sure...run into the burning building. Somewhere some safety officer is rolling in their graves." They hopped down the hole, narrowly avoiding slipping on a wet patch of ground. Getting their bearings, they followed the rest of the group, sticking their tongue out at the smell.
The bottom of the sewers was filled with more supples, many of it small salvage and various trinkets that the thieves didn't seem to find useful. A few spent ammo magazine, some tools, a few solar panels, even a half eaten fruit cake. It seems that even the ferals don't have a taste for humanity greatest crime. The party chased after the dragon until they got to a more open area. The Dragon stood waiting for the party with his arms crossed, a smug smile on his face and five very large metal like mutants that resembled badgers. The air seems tense but the dragon didn't seem to want budge.
Dal notices the solar panels in the corner of the room and remembers to make a note to tell everyone else about this area as soon as they get out of this mess. As she is running to catch up with the group, she calls out to Cerris.
"I'm sorry about setting the roof on fire by accident! I won't do it again unless!"
The golden scaled dragoness stops as she sees the five metal mutants in the area. "Can I start breathing fire again, Cerris?"
Klynor clawed feet grab into the bottom of the sewer bringing him to a screeching halt ,slightly rocking his upper torso., right before the dragon. "Oh I guess you were ready." he says to the dragon, " Dont get all excited it was only a matter of speech.". He begins pacing and looking over his shoulderawaiting the rest of the teams arival.
Cerris doesn't even bother to halt in this situation, he just keeps striding forward. He was already a hard line soldier that feared nothing save decay, so when placed in a mutation that weilded so much physical power he got caught up in the feeling of invincibility.
"You can surrender or you can be beaten in submission, wev'e come for you and what you have stolen."
He then says back over his shoulder .
"Sure thing Goldy, just don't roast my bird please? Those pretty feathers don't need singing, but I see some faces that are gonna get a poundin..."
Fe'ath could hear Dal splashing and running behind and catching up. As soon as it became aware that the others ahead had stopped, the bird swiftly ducks to the side to let Dal pass, and then hurriedly follow out into the more open area without the risk of being trampled on, swift enough to offer support as needed but not so swift that if the shadow dragon used anything obnoxious, there was a chance of ducking back into the tunnel. "Don't fret over me, I keep telling you people I can look after myself. Don't tell me they've submitted already though? And I was so looking forward to a fight.."
Aether arrives, skidding to a halt behind the rest of the group. "You're gonna breathe fire again? Just don't light the whole place up, I don't think I'm fireproof...in fact I'm made of sugar partly so that's not gonna end well." They readied themselves for the upcoming fight.
The dragon smiles at the group, "Get them." The dragon belows out at the badgers. They started to charge the party, one of them glowing as if flames were burning just under her skin. The dragon hangs to the back wanting nothing to do with the combat.
The Dragon was sitting on a railing while eating a bag of rations, his jaw opened up and a piece of vegetarian omlet dropped from his mouth. His elite warriors were beating into paste in a matter of moments, "Um..." The dragon looked around and whistled a few times hoping to call for him but his only response back was the tired groans of beaten down badgers and the sounds of RSX troops entering behind the group.
Dal starts grinning to the shadow dragon on the rail. "Yeah, the real surprise is that these guys are much faster than I am and they can fight much better than me as a result." She flies up to the currently stunned shadow dragon and her grin grows even larger. "Ain't life a bitch and a half?" She turns back to face everyone else, "Let's make sure to collect the solar panels. After all, they will prove to be very useful for the three factions." She turns back to face the stunned shadow dragon. "Do you want a go as well?"
Klynor gives the equipment a good eye over before the RSX agents crash the scene. "Well this party is burnt." he mutters to himself. Turning to face the dragon he says, " Alright dragon dude or dudette you know the drill come peacefully blahblahblah or something like that. Lets do this the easy way so I can go share my profits with some of those cute little mall rats."
Cerris looks around at the leveled badgers, then turns toward the remaining dragon with a grin that is far from friendly.
"Eating someone else's chow? That is worth a punch in the mouth...let's see you clench those teeth huh?"
Striding forward the muscle bound field officer dishes out a bit of discipline for the shadow dragon, with a fistfull of knuckles.
"Theiving bastards...alright people let's round them up and clear this place out."
Fe'ath heashakes some, the fight and encounter happening rather more swiftly than it had expected. The worst of it was the mess the water had made of its trailing tailfeathers. "So is that it? Huh. After all that I thought the dragon might have been a bit more of a fighter."
Aether nods in agreement. "Well one thing's for sure, they're a looker. Maybe I should go out hunting for some, wouldn't mind a body like that." They laugh, looking at the rest of the crew. "I certainly had fun." They waved at everyone. "It was nice working with all you."
Aether
The dragon looked like he was going to fight then took a good look at the battered badgers on the ground and all the not so smiling faces of the group, then the even more grim and trigger happy faces of the RSX support including the very painful looking guns they had. And the monster that punched him viciously in the face. He ate a floating bit of his vegatable omelet and raised his hands in fear. The RSX member detained him while keeping a nervous but respectful distance from the party. They gave their thanks and took a few of the solar panels leaving some of the group and allowing them access to the some of the salvage recovered. They quickly took their wounded and left before Operator Jamal chuckled, "Thanks. I knew calling for outside help was the right idea. Hope to work with you all again." He gave a causal wave before departing with the rest of the RSX members leaving the party in the sewers and surround by food and rubbish.
