Flexible Survival: Single-Player
The single-player version of the game can be found at Nuku's blog and is a text-based game with a 'sandbox' feel. On the surface, it is a timed survival game where players must keep their character fed, watered and sane until rescue by the military shortly after the infection of the city by the transformation nanites. There are an array of creatures, events, NPCs and quests (both mini-quests and majour undertakings) to explore and experience. Many of the creatures of the city will attempt to infect the player (often through sexual contact) resulting in body transformations. The game has numerous 'endings' based on how the player is infected at the end of the game, whether they survived or succumbed to the infection, and which NPCs have been encountered and saved.

Players new to the game should read the Overall Gameplay article, which contains no spoilers and explains the core concepts of the game.

Note: Flexible Survival is, ultimately, a game of exploration. It is intended that players discover content on their own, with the idea that they will gain the most enjoyment from the game in this way. The articles listed in the table below generally contain spoilers for the game in one fashion or another. New and less experienced players are warned that viewing these articles may affect your ultimate enjoyment of the game (if even in only a small way). Proceed at your own discretion.

Listed below are a number of articles which contain the details of the game, laid bare for all to see. It is a reference for veteran players and a source newer players may consult to find solutions and answers that are not readily apparent to them through the course of the game.

What is a Comm Device?
The comm device is any device, hooked into the network maintained by your faction(or hooked into a faction's network for those without a faction) that allows you to get near instantaneous information about a great deal of things. The comm itself can come in a wide variety of shapes and styles. From a HUD style device, to a simple walkie-talkie, anything that can tell you, either verbally or by visual output, the information required and requested. A few examples include a device similar to a scouter from DragonBall Z, a pair of enhanced glasses, a walkie-talkie, a wrist watch, a cell phone, the list goes on. If you have compatible hardware already in your head, a NICE for example, it can even be internal.

*OOC note: Any command you type that isn't directly related to RP or comes from apparent view comes from your comm. Examples of this include +groin and POT.

What does a Comm Device do?
The comm device stores various information about the agent who owns it. Information that is normally only displayed to the agent includes: amount of freecred, amount of tokens, amount of mako, current mutations, contents of your pack, what recipes and modifiers the agent has access to, etc. The comm also transmits data, such as the relative state of your health, energy, who you are, what faction you are with, etc. While there is currently no pure mechanical way to turn off your comm's standard outputs, this is something that is possible, permitting someone to sneak up on someone else. You can set your comm to trust the comms of other agents, allowing them to see detailed information about you that normally would only be shown to yourself. In addition to all this, your comm acts as a standard communicator. This allows you to receive broadcast information from your faction, your group, and anyone else with your comm ID(NOTE: This is how the Page and Page-Mail systems work). Actually talking on the comm is about as efficient and quick as talking on a cell phone, making its use as a mid-fight system negligible at best. For combat communications, look more toward Telepathic Nanomagic. And that is not all! Your comm device also acts as an emergency beacon, alerting your faction(Or a faction if you have none) that you are in need of great aid due to falling unconscious.

Where to get Comms
A comm device is provided to each and every agent when they sign up with a faction. If you never had a faction, then finding one that was discarded somewhere would not be that difficult, or buying one from one of the factions. Keep in mind that a faction is very unlikely to give you access to their faction-exclusive frequencies. That said, it could be set up to work with one of the faction's networks to allow all the other comm functions to continue.

Misc Questions
*Why doesn't my comm get stolen or damaged when I fight?
**Most mutants are not too concerned about your tech. Items, comms, etc tend to be glossed over for other things. Also, despite what their construction might look like, comms tend to be highly durable.

*How does my comm interact with bubble servers?
**Information that is on a bubble server, such as the specific commands for builder nanites, can be accessed via comm devices, but comm devices are treated as read-only for bubble servers. The only servers they can make edits to as needed are the ones that house faction information for their faction.

What is a Nanite Bubble?
In the broadest of senses, a nanite bubble is a collection of nanites that are given commands from some source. This source can come from a NICE unit, a bubble server, a mini-server, a variety of things. However, each source would have its own distinct differences based on the reality of its location and the duration the bubble has been active.

The effects of a Bubble Server.
A bubble server is the most powerful and least mobile of the bubble producing options. Usually stationary unless mounted to a vehicle (which the nanites would either try to strip down, unless commanded not to by one of its programmers). With the power the bubble server has, along with the permanency of the bubble it makes, it is more than capable of producing a substance affectionately called 'Nanite Nutrient Soup'. This is a collection of nutrients and minerals, free-floating inside any bubbles that last long enough and have enough power, that nanites can use for other purposes; such as building their own things, mutating people, and keeping those infected alive without food or water for long periods of time(even if barely alive). This kind of bubble also ensures that all nanite functions within it are running at their peak efficiency. The closer to the server itself, the higher this efficiency can go. A bubble server is capable of having more individualized effects. For example, the server in Clairmont blocks out heat and horniness for the most part, acting as a SUCK as well as a normal server. And in Eureka, where the Nanite Degradation is slowed down.

The effects of a NICE and Mini Bubble.
Basically one in the same, a NICE unit or a mini-server with the full compliment of Regulation Nanomagic programs on it is capable of producing a more temporary, less powerful, but more mobile bubble. Typically much more limited in range and function, this kind of bubble supplies both ambient nanites for the purposes of, as well as instructions for, most common nanite functions. This will permit things like shifting, mutating, causing initial infection, and allow mutant powers to be fired at a more normal level of efficiency and strength. This, however, does not create the aforementioned nanite nutrient soup. This kind of bubble is both not powerful enough, nor up long enough to produce this effect. In addition to this, the nanite program found in bubble servers is not completely replicable, so some commands are missing from the program given out to agents in the form of NICE or found in the miniature server. This means that when it comes to Food and Water, you have what you packed to bring, what you can find, and what you can hunt. A special note for this is vehicular forms. Without the support of those missing programs and the nanite nutrient soup, being in a vehicular form is very draining and exhausting, something someone would only be able to do for short bursts at best before having to spend quite a bit of time recovering.

What about no bubble at all?
If you are completely out of a bubble, then your nanites are not receiving any outside commands to permit the majority of special nanite functions. Things like mutating, shifting, and causing initial infection. These things are not possible without the support of some fashion of bubble. Without the support of ambient nanites, your own internal nanites are more concerned about supporting your life functions then ensuring your Flamethrower is as hot and big as it can possibly be, reducing the effectiveness and strength of mutant powers while out of a bubble. Some exceptions include Gouging Claws. Because the nanites are still supporting your basic functions, your health, wounds, energy, etc continue to recharge and renew at their normal rates.

What are Builder Nanites, Recipes, and Modifiers?
Builder nanites are blank industrial nanites that are able to accept commands that do not directly involve things like infection and mutation. Lower grade, they are perfect for a simple, one use, task-like construction. Stored in glass vials, these nanites simply await commands to be executed.
A recipe is a set of instructions for the nanites to follow to construct a particular object. It is all simply commands to be executed by various batches of builder nanites upon objects provided by the crafter to make a functioning finished project. Some things the nanites cannot build on the fly, and must be constructed beforehand. However, most of these already have recipes for them (See Battery and Nanite Power Brick), or otherwise available (See Mako Shark).
A modifier is exactly that, a program meant to modify one of the recipe programs. The crafter must have a general idea about what they are building to know how much salvage to use, which modifiers are compatible, and how to make sure the end product works as designed and intended. This is the reason for crafting skill levels.

How this process works
To begin with, the one doing the crafting assembles the necessary parts. Salvage, pre-built gear, and builder nanites collected. The agent then sends to the nearest bubble server a request for nanite instructions for the recipe data stored in their comm. The comm can store the basics of each recipe and modifier the agent knows, but cannot directly give commands to nanites. After receiving the request, the bubble server automatically deducts the cost of this service from the comm of the requester, and transmits, bit by bit, the requested data to the builder nanites indicated by the agent's comm. That done, all the agent has to do is apply the nanites to the collected parts, and stand back. The nanites rearrange the objects around, part by atomic part, until it is what the recipe and modifiers say it should be.

About Craft rooms
The main bubble server is usually very busy running a lot of different tasks needed by the bubble itself, and taking CPU time away from it is both costly and inefficient. In each of the craft rooms is a much smaller server, useful only for storing and relaying very specific and less complex code. Perfect for storing and relaying the commands of a recipe and its modifiers. By being able to take all the commands at once, and send them over as needed to maintain the builder nanites' functions, this reduces the load on the main server, thus creating an environment more suitable for the nanites to do their job.
