Lost and scattered in the city are several infected creatures which the player can take on as pets. A player is allowed to collect as many of these as they can find, but only one can be active at a time, sometimes known as the companion/ally of the player. If the player has a companion/ally, it has a random chance of attacking enemies while in combat. Pet's have a base 25% chance of attacking each round, further improved by a player's Charisma and some [[Feats|feats]]. Pets have starting stats that improve as they level up, which they do by participating in combat. They earn their own experience, but cannot become a higher level than the player. They also gain improved Dexterity and damage gradually as they level up. A player gains a little less XP while using a pet. The single-player version of the game can be found at [https://blog.flexiblesurvival.com/ Nuku's blog] and is a text-based game with a 'sandbox' feel. On the surface, it is a timed survival game where players must keep their character fed, watered and sane until rescue by the military shortly after the infection of the city by the transformation nanites. There are an array of creatures, events, NPCs and quests (both mini-quests and majour undertakings) to explore and experience. Many of the creatures of the city will attempt to infect the player (often through sexual contact) resulting in body transformations. The game has numerous 'endings' based on how the player is infected at the end of the game, whether they survived or succumbed to the infection, and which NPCs have been encountered and saved.

The single-player game for Flexible Survival deals with a lone survivor, trying to remain alive and sane as the infection ravages through the city. The infection has not yet fully taken hold. In most cases, enemies are single monsters who have not yet formed into groups or factions. The player has limited supplies remaining in the bunker they start in and cannot afford to continue to await rescue. As such, they must venture out into the city to seek the means to survive until the military rescue arrives. The base game lasts for 30 days, broken up into 3-hour turns, making a total of 240 turns. This time can be increased based on player actions.

Or not, as the player prefers. As almost every [[:Category:Monsters (Single Player)|monster]], as well as many [[NPCs (Single Player)|NPCs]], have endings based on succumbing to them, players may wish to explore the possible outcomes should they 'lose the game'.

When they encounter [[:Category:Monsters (Single Player)|creatures]], players must fight, flee or submit to the creatures and face the consequences. [[Combat (Single Player)|Combat]] is done on a turn by turn basis, with the player selecting their option from the list, then the monster is given an opportunity to retaliate. If either drops to 0 hp or less, they lose the fight, often with a victory or defeat scene playing out. (Sexual) contact with an infected creature will often result in the player becoming [[Overall Gameplay#Infection|infected]] with that strain as well. Generally, if a player is victorious in combat, they can avoid changes as their 'nanite strain' was proven stronger and would not seek to incorporate traits from a losing creature.

As mentioned, the player's hunger and thirst increase over time and this must be dealt with regularly to prevent a decrease in player morale and to prevent death by starvation or dehydration. The typical way to gather these supplies is to '''scavenge''' for them, though they can also be found while exploring or as rewards for performing tasks for [[NPCs (Single Player)|NPCs]].

Throughout the game are various items, several dropped by monsters, and others found around the chaotic city, which players may wish to use. Many creature items are infectious and should be used with caution. Weapons are scattered around the game for the player to equip for combat.

There are a variety of locations which players can find, but they will have to '''explore''' or '''hunt''' to find them. These locations may hold items of interest to the player as well as [[NPCs (Single Player)|NPCs]] with whom the player can interact. Many NPCs provide [[:Category:Quests (Single Player)|quests]] and/or are willing to be amorous with the player. There are also pets to be found in the game, which can help the player in combat and often come with ending additions of their own. ==Starting a New Game==

The game begins by making a set of selections for your starting character:
* There are six [[Starting a New Game|basic stats]]: Strength, Dexterity, Stamina, Charisma, Perception, and Intelligence, each of which start at 12. The player selects one which will gain a +5 bonus (raising it to 17) or opt to get a random spread of stats (from 10 to 18 with the same overall total). This choice can affect your eligibility for starting [[Feats]].
* The player chooses a gender for his or her character, either male or female. The player's current gender can affect the dialogue and interactions with NPCs and can be modified or changed through the course of the game.
* The scenario is chosen next, with 'Bunker' as the standard.
* Further mode changes to increase difficulty can also be activated. Presently, these are:
** Hard Mode: Powerful foes can be encountered and weaker foes level up to match the player. Other difficulty tweaks as well.
** No-Heal Mode: The player doesn't receive basic healing at the end of each turn. Healing items provide +25% healing though.
** Blind Mode: The player cannot hunt or scavenge for specific items. There's a significantly increased chance of finding something while exploring though.
* Select a [[Feats#Basic Feats|basic feat]] from the list available, followed by a [[Feats#Fun Feats|fun feat]]. These grant abilities to your character, bestowing skills or bonuses that affect game play, or even penalties to make it more interesting and add personal flair to your character.
* The final step is the option to remove some types of creatures from the game (banning) or to prevent random encounters with them (warding). Banning removes characters, events and enemies from the game based on flags set on them while warding may still result in creatures of those genders/types being met during scripted events that call upon them. Current flags are: Furry, Guy, Girl, Hermaphrodite, Humorous and Hellspawn. For example, players adverse to M/M content or M/H and F/H content can preemptively remove much of this content by choosing the 'guy' or 'hermaphrodite' flags respectively. But keep in mind, banning these flags can greatly reduce the content in the game, as many NPCs, events and quests are either removed or locked from completion because necessary content has been removed.

When the player starts exploring the world, they will inevitably encounter creatures who seek the have their way at the expense of the player. The player is given multiple options to deal with this: they may fight, submit, lose on purpose or flee. With most creatures, each option has its own unique result.

Each area has its own set of creatures. Some areas contain creatures which are more difficult to overcome than others. Players should take care when exploring new areas, as they may contain creatures far stronger than they are.

If the player chooses to engage in combat, sexual outcomes are available in most situations aside from successfully fleeing the combat. Winning allows the player to choose their role in the ensuing sex (or to avoid it) while submitting or losing puts the player at the creature's mercy.

An almost inevitable result of playing the game is infection. In most scenarios, the starts as a human, but so did the majority of the other creatures the player will encounter in the city. Almost none of the city's occupants remain full blood humans. If the player is careful, they may remain human for the duration of the game, but much of the fun revolves around the various infections the player encounters and may acquire. Any given infection will transform the player's physical and sexual attributes toward that infection's natural shape.

Generally speaking, there are two ways in which players become infected. The first is through sexual interaction with certain [[:Category:Monsters_(Single_Player)|Monsters]] (generally in a non-consensual fashion) or [[NPCs_(Single_Player)|NPCs]] (generally more consensual, though just as sexual). The player may also acquire various [[Items (Single_Player)|Items]] through the course of the game which bestow infections upon consumption or use.

When infected, a random part of the character's body will be subject to infection and change. For the purposes of the game, there are five parts of the body which can become infected: head, body, skin, ass/tail, and groin/genitals. There will then be a description of the change occurring to the character's body and their personal description will be altered to reflect this change. Further infection from that same strain will affect a new body part each time until the player's form is fully transformed, leaving only any remaining shifts in gender to continue. Some NPCs and events can result in infection as well, as a player makes contact with a tainted object or infected individual. Some NPCs do not infect the player or only do so under special circumstances. You can say he should stay as is or help him but either way it seems Fangs scene only happens once but is very important none the less.

Fiona- This event takes place randomly but may be repeated with the option to go out and watch again or simply ignore the sounds.

Helen- This event will simply happen with no option to stop it/ walk away. It only happens once but afterwards you may find a threesome option in Helen's sex menu. Slight differences depend on id Helen is awesome yet or not.

Sandra- The most important NPC interaction for Fang, it sets him up to either be locked as a beta or locked as the alpha. You given an option to either watch them have sex or to join them in the event, joining them will lead to a threesome option being added to Fang's menu. Fang is found after defeating four [[Feral Wolf|Feral Wolves]] in the [[Urban Forest]]. The defeat of the fourth one will allow the player to bring him home with them.

If the player has recruited [[Sandra (SP)|Sandra]], they may encounter threesomes between her and Fang. Sandra plays a key role if the player wishes to make him the Alpha in this pack.

You can say he should stay as is or help him but either way it seems Fangs scene only happens once but is very important none the less.

Fiona- This event takes place randomly but may be repeated with the option to go out and watch again or simply ignore the sounds.

Helen- This event will simply happen with no option to stop it/ walk away. It only happens once but afterwards you may find a threesome option in Helen's sex menu. Slight differences depend on id Helen is awesome yet or not.

Sandra- The most important NPC interaction for Fang, it sets him up to either be locked as a beta or locked as the alpha. You given an option to either watch them have sex or to join them in the event, joining them will lead to a threesome option being added to Fang's menu. Completing the threesome multiple times will lead to Fang trying to assert dominance and you either allowing it or putting him in his place in true alpha fashion.

Sidney Wusky Form- This scene happens only once and it happens without an option to stop it.

Xerxes- This event will simply happen with no option to stop it/ walk away. It only happens once but afterwards you may find a threesome option in Xerxes sex menu. Slight differences depend on id Xerxes is awesome yet or not.

Felinoid Companion- Most of the Scenes involving these two males are more along the lines of competition over being top male and are reflected in sex scenes. An example would be having sex with Xerxes with fang and the felinoid watching with jealousy and vice versus. The winner of which one is truly top male is decided by which one you have sex with more as well as the status of fang either beta or alpha.

Pets / Allies

Danny001: Added Companion and ally to the text as placeholder for future additions

Lost and scattered in the city are several infected creatures which the player can take on as pets. A player is allowed to collect as many of these as they can find, but only one can be active at a time, sometimes known as the companion/ally of the player. If the player has a companion/ally, it has a random chance of attacking enemies while in combat. Pet's have a base 25% chance of attacking each round, further improved by a player's Charisma and some [[Feats|feats]]. Pets have starting stats that improve as they level up, which they do by participating in combat. They earn their own experience, but cannot become a higher level than the player. They also gain improved Dexterity and damage gradually as they level up. A player gains a little less XP while using a pet. Most pets/allies come with their own endings, or may even have modified endings in combination with certain [[NPCs_(Single_Player)|NPCs]] or [[:Category:Monsters_(Single_Player)|infections]]. They may also possess special in-game scenes and content under special circumstances.

==Appearance==
Kitsune: Travelling the city streets, you take a moment to glance behind you and, as you return your eyes to your path, you find it blocked by another figure. Before you is a female silver fox with several fluffy tails. She's dressed rather more unusually than most others you've met. Her red, sleeveless top is tight over her breasts and she has a pair of khaki shorts with some pouches belted to it. She has a pair of goggles on her head, worn resting above her brow. Slung over her back is a backpack. Her appearance, save for her sexy, vulpine nature would lead you to imagine her as a character in an adventure movie or video game, perhaps raiding tombs or hunting relics. Aside from her paw resting on the machete strapped to her hip, she doesn't seem aggressive.

Vulpogryph: Transformed by the strange artifact you helped her recover, Solstice has become an unusual, gryphon-like creature. Her upper body is decidedly avian in nature, with black feathers and a crow's head and beak. Her eyes are sharp and have a lustful glint as they look at you. She has a pair of broad, black wings attached to her back as well. Her paws resemble bird-like talons. There are some hints of her previous, vulpine nature as well, with foxish ears and mammalian breasts filling her red shirt. Her lower body is largely unchanged and is that of a sexy, multi-tailed vixen, though those tails are now covered in black plumage. Her fur is a silvery gray in stark contrast to her darker feathers. Along with her red, sleeveless top, the vulpogryph wears a pair of khaki shorts with attached pouches. She's even set up her bedroll in one of the reading rooms to the side of the library and is keeping her small backpack there as well.

==Events==
The player can find Solstice through the Adventurer event in [[Outside Exploration]] after having visited the [[Museum]]. She asks the player to retrieve an artifact called the Onyx Crow which is currently in the Museum. The player may hunt for the Onyx Crow in the Museum, which will lead to a fight with a [[Cerberus]]. Beating the Cerberus allows the player to take the Onyx Crow and allows the player to once again find the Adventurer event. When met, Solstice will automatically take the Onyx Crow from the player and lead them to her hideout to finish assembling the artifact. The artifact is cursed, however, and turns her into a Vulpogryph. The player has the option either to take the original promised reward, gaining a food, water and 50 freecred, or they can take Solstice herself as their reward. Both end up infecting the player with Vulpogryph.

A little more than a day after the player's last encounter with her, Solstice will show up in the Library.

==Notes==
Once in the library, Solstice offers the player "lessons" which can raise the player's perception if it's less than 20 if the player passes an intelligence check. If the player's perception is greater than 20, it will merely raise the player's libido and morale, while inflicting a small penalty to sanity. It will also result in a sex scene.

*Janice is available for sex after you've won her approval. She is infectious with a special Arctic Fox infection.
*Once you've garnered Janice's attention, she'll be willing to train the player in being a seductive vulpine. This is done by using the '''pose for Janice''' option in her action bar. Doing this requires having the Arctic Fox body and can only be done once every 6 turns. A successful dex check is required, which is boosted by the presence of [[Kristen]]. Success gives a +1 Charisma boost (max of 24) and a dose of Arctic Fox infection. Failure has you hurt yourself, resulting in 10 hp dmg.

The player will find Beverly located in the east wing of the [[Smith Haven Mall]]. There, the player may choose to "browsebooks" (other variations work) to find various books in the store.

*Another book will increase the player's Dexterity by a point up to two times.

Carl Banning is a well-built young male soldier, now transformed into an anthropomorphic husky. He wears a dark undershirt and the camo pattern pants of a normal military uniform, though he had to give up on boots since his digitigrade paws wouldn't fit in them. Carl will be running from Allen and the player is given the chance to bring Carl to the bunker. If the player immediately attempts to have sex with him in [[The Grey Abbey]] Library, he will ask the player to hold off, as he fears he will given into submissiveness. If the player refrains for several days, Carl will stop being as submissive. If the player decides to indulge before that point, Carl will remain submissive.

The player may choose instead to simply let Carl pass by to watch Allen reclaim his Beta bitch, or choose to set him loose rather than bring him to the Library.

There are a wide array of non-player characters (NPCs) in the game for the player to interact with. Some of these are friendly, others are merely ambivalent about the player. Some exist in pre-assigned locations while others must be found through events. Certain NPCs can provide the player with quests, often with a reward to be earned. Others can be 'rescued' by the player and brought to a safe place (usually the Bunker). Most NPCs, being infected, are up for a little fun with the player to sate their rampant libidos. Players are cautioned that sex with most NPCs will result in infection.

== Feat Overview ==
Aside from the basic stats, players have the ability to earn 'feats', which are special skills or abilities. These feats come in two general varieties, known as [[Feats#Basic_Feats|Basic Feats]] and [[Feats#Fun_Feats|Fun Feats]]. The basic feats are those which most directly affect gameplay and a player character's ability to survive in the game. == Feat Overview ==
Aside from the basic stats, players have the ability to earn 'feats', which are special skills or abilities. These feats come in two general varieties, known as [[Feats#Basic_Feats|Basic Feats]] and [[Feats#Fun_Feats|Fun Feats]]. The basic feats are those which most directly affect gameplay and a player character's ability to survive in the game. Fun feats are more geared towards affecting the player's experience while playing the game, often as restrictions in transformation (e.g. Male Preferred) or the character's mental state (e.g. Kinky). As many ending scenarios are affected by the player's gender, these can unlock otherwise difficult or impossible to obtain endings to enrich the play experience, but often have little effect on the 'game' itself. The main exception to this last part are the 'gender preferred' feats, which may locks players out from receiving some content, because of a gender requirement, or access content they'd otherwise not be able to see (gender-specific variations).

At the start of the game, a player is granted 1 basic feat and 1 fun feat with which to start. ==Overview==
This represents a special set of alternate victory abilities allows the player to consume their defeated foe whole through one of several scripted scenes. These abilities are currently broken down into two main varieties, those being Vore (eating) and UB (unbirthing) the oppenent. The Vore version of the ability is granted directly by the Vore Predator ability, which can be obtained as an advance [[Feats|feat]] or through the Inner Predator event. The UB ability can be obtained by talking to [[Doctor Medea]] while having the Vore Predator ability.

The option to enter one of these scenes will appear at random after defeating a monster. It will only trigger outside of an event situation, otherwise there would be a high chance of scene conflict. As well, only foes of equal or lesser scale value to the player are valid. Some foes cannot be vored at all, mainly multi-foe mobs and unique enemies. A list of the excluded foes is given below.

The standard setup is to have the player prompted at victory if they want to go through with vore and/or UB if it successfully triggers. The player can change this setup by using the 'voremenu' command directly or by accessing that menu via Trixie's cheats/settings menu (iwannacheat). The player can then set their option to 'Player Choice', 'Automatic' and 'Never'. Both vore and UB are set separately.

Should the player accept to vore/UB a foe, the scene for that will play out instead of the regular player victory system and scene. Any mechanics that would trigger as a result of player victory (such as counting defeats for a quest) will '''not''' run. This is another reason why fights in situations/events block vore/UB.

==Event==
The Inner Predator event starts with the player finding a locked briefcase. Along with some official documents is a vial of a murky fluid and a candy bar. Consuming the vial's contents results in gaining an out of control hunger. This hunger is then sated by a [[Female Husky]] (or other permitted foe) that the player swallows alive and whole. ==Overview==
This represents a special set of alternate victory abilities allows the player to consume their defeated foe whole through one of several scripted scenes. These abilities are currently broken down into two main varieties, those being Vore (eating) and UB (unbirthing) the oppenent. The Vore version of the ability is granted directly by the Vore Predator ability, which can be obtained as an advance [[Feats|feat]] or through the Inner Predator event. The UB ability can be obtained by talking to [[Doctor Medea]] while having the Vore Predator ability.

The option to enter one of these scenes will appear at random after defeating a monster. It will only trigger outside of an event situation, otherwise there would be a high chance of scene conflict. As well, only foes of equal or lesser scale value to the player are valid. Some foes cannot be vored at all, mainly multi-foe mobs and unique enemies. A list of the excluded foes is given below.

The standard setup is to have the player prompted at victory if they want to go through with vore and/or UB if it successfully triggers. The player can change this setup by using the 'voremenu' command directly or by accessing that menu via Trixie's cheats/settings menu (iwannacheat). The player can then set their option to 'Player Choice', 'Automatic' and 'Never'. Both vore and UB are set separately.

Should the player accept to vore/UB a foe, the scene for that will play out instead of the regular player victory system and scene. Any mechanics that would trigger as a result of player victory (such as counting defeats for a quest) will '''not''' run. This is another reason why fights in situations/events block vore/UB.

==Event==
The Inner Predator event starts with the player finding a locked briefcase. Along with some official documents is a vial of a murky fluid and a candy bar. Consuming the vial's contents results in gaining an out of control hunger. This hunger is then sated by a [[Female Husky]] (or other permitted foe) that the player swallows alive and whole.
