Weapons

To be able to better defend themselves in combat, the player character can equip one of a variety of weapons they can find in the game. All weapons have a base damage value (starting weapons have a damage rating of 5). Unarmed combat starts at 4 damage. In most play modes, there is a pocketknife in the Bunker at the start of the game. A few weapons, such as the infected sword and the dirty whip are also tainted and will infect the player while they use them. Melee weapons have their damage increased based on the player's strength, while ranged weapons are increased by the player's perception. This increase is at a rate of +1 / 2 stat points above 10. Ranged weapons also grant a chance to gain first strike by firing before the creature fully closes into melee range.

While most weapons are scaled to be best suited to human-sized characters (represented by a size value of 3), some may be larger or smaller. Weapon size is compared against the scalevalue of the player (based on their current infection's size rating) and should the difference between the two be two or more, a penalty to hit is applied.

Here's a damage chart that TigerStripes posted on the forum. Note: Some of these don't really exist and are only present as examples for designers.

Weapon Catalog:

1) Awesome Bat (5 lbs) – 7 dmg - size 4 (does double rainbows sometimes :3)

  • (May be randomly gained by being struck by the Awesome Tree's final attack - 10% chance.)
  • (Can auto-defeat an Awesome Tree if it double-rainbows.)

2) Bo Staff (2 lbs) – 4 dmg - size 3

  • (Found in the Museum in the event „Fallen Kunoichi”.)
  • (Damage and to-hit bonuses when used in conjunction with Martial Artist, and another if used with Black Belt. Defensive ability which is boosted by player strength, dexterity and stamina, the Martial Artist and Black Belt feats, as well as Weaponsmaster.)

3) Bonesaw (3 lbs) - 6 dmg - size 2

4) Chair (10 lbs) - 5 dmg - size 4 (And you can sit on it!..)

  • (Found in the Mall Foodcourt, is a visible object to pick up.)
  • (Has a +2 to hit the Wrestling Wolf)

5) Cleaver (2 lbs) – 6 dmg - size 3

6) Combat Knife (2 lbs) - 6 dmg - size 3

  • (Found Outside in the event "Trickster", have to win)

7) Crowbar (3 lbs) - 6 dmg - size 3

  • (Found in the Abandoned Lot area by the event „unused tool”, one of three possible weapons you can get in this event.)
  • (Provides a +3 bonus to some scavenging events if owned.)

8) Dirty Whip (3 lbs)/Horse Whip (2 lbs) – DW 11 dmg / HW 6 dmg - size 3 (DW randomly infects PC while equipped)

  • (Found in the Park by the event „Destroyed Bushes”, can be cleaned into Horse Whip.)
  • (Horse Whip can be found in the Stables in the event „Stablestoreroom”.)

9) Electric Prod (5 Lbs) - 22 dmg - size 2 (limited use once battery dies, its gone)

  • (Found in the City Zoo by the event „Electric shockers” (need to find it twice).)

10) Flotsam Club (15 lbs) – 10 dmg - size 10

  • (Found in the Beach Plaza area by the event „Flotsam bits”.)

11) Golf Club (2 lbs) - 5 dmg - size 3

12) Icicle Knives (5 lbs) - 16 dmg - size 2 (twins of sorrow..)

  • (Found in the Reservoir after completing the quest, needs level 18 to start)

13) Infected Sword (10 lbs) – 16 dmg - size 4 (randomly infects PC while equipped)

  • (Found by exploring Outside area in the event „Sword Nest”.)

14) Iron Pipe (3 lbs) - 5 dmg - size 3

  • (Found in the Abandoned Lot area by the event „unused tool”, one of three possible weapons you can get in this event.)

15) Mallet (5 lbs) – 7 dmg - size 2

  • (Found in the Abandoned Lot area by the event „unused tool”, one of three possible weapons you can get in this event.)

16) Medium Sledge (15 lbs) - 18 dmg - size 4

  • (Found during the Stables Quest "Finding Hardware")
  • (Has a -2 to hit due to being difficult to wield as a weapon.)

17) Nightstick (4 lbs) - 6 dmg - size 3

  • (Left behind for you at the Police Car location by Sgt Marks if you don't accompany him to the motel or random chance of obtaining it after beating up the Tiger Cop (will only drop once))

18) Organi Rod (5 lbs) - 15 dmg - size 4

  • (Obtained after turning in the Flotsam Club to complete the eighth and last of the Pursuit of Science quests.)

19) Pistol (2 lbs) – 7 dmg - size 2 (possible free shot before enemy reaches you)

  • (Bought from the Zephyr branch office for 600 creds.)
  • (Ranged weapon - damage increases from player's perception.)

20) Pocketknife (1 lbs) – 5 dmg

  • (Found in the Park area by the event „Lovers Bench” (need to find it twice), received in some game starts as well.)

21) Riding Crop (1 lbs) – 4 dmg

22) Spiked Club (2 lbs) – 6 dmg - size 4

  • (Found in the Dry Plains area by the event „Hardware Store”.)
  • (Has a -1 to hit due to being a makeshift weapon.)

23) Spear (4 lbs) – 9 dmg - size 3

24) Tire Iron (1 lbs) - 6 dmg - size 3

25) Trident (5 lbs) - 10 dmg - size 4

  • (Found in the Beach Plaza area by the event „Trident”. Must defeat 4 Feral Sea Dragons.)

NB! There could be more weapons in the game, then what is presented here. All weapon damages (dmg) can be acquired by the Weaponmaster feat or checking the file on GitHub.
