SCA - The Society fo Creative Anachronisms.  A small organization that existed before P-Day that was dedicated to historical reenactment of medieval society - from weaving to medieval battles.  While some people only dabbled with this during events and Renaissance Fairs, other people were much more heavily immersed in this, learning how to move in heavy armor, fight with medieval-style weapons and even learning a lot about history.
