The construction site is like any other mostly destroyed lot in fairhaven. That is, it is covered in debris, not anywhere near as heavily as most, but the primary distinction being it has a dark green tent suitable for standing upright set up on it, looking as though it might be from a war movie depicting a conflict from the previous century.

A few moments after the call for help was put out, anyone inside the tent would be treated to a crocodillian gator snout poking through the tent flaps, followed shortly by Arris's head proper. "Heyy, this is the spot where we go and... uh, rebuild the neighborhood, right? I heard the call, not sure how capable I am, but I want to lend a hand anyway."

Clef was already inside the tent, having arrived to his first real serious job early. "Uh, yeah, so I've been told," afformed the half-otter towards Arris, shooting him a smile and a little motion to come inside. "I'm gonna try and do what I can too, though I... don't suppose I'll be able to provide much in the heavy lifting department..."

Uvi A rather peculiar lamia girl slithers to the construction site, proudly wielding her bulky nanite collector. Peculiar, because she's wearing only a labcoat and her tail is.. well, jello. She looks around the area, before confidently entering the tent. She loudly says, "Haio, everyon~! Uvi, reporting for duty!" She glances over the room and moves herself close to Arris, because sie is the only person she knows here, apparently.

A gigantic mephitaur padded up to the tent that was set up in the construction zone. She quickly leaned her upper body forward and parted the flaps to poke her colorful head in. "This is the correct location I trust my dears?" She let out a soft churr before she slipped inside and picked a spot to make herself stand out of the way at least as she settled in behind Uvi after being so kind as to provide the transportation to the site.

Walking in from off of the main road, a wolfboy in a labcoat, and wearing a bright yellow safety helmet, with goggles, sidles into cleared section of wasteland. Noticing a small gathering of people by what must be a crude foreperson's tent. They carry at their side, a sturdy dufflebag, raising one of their hands to silently greet the already assembled folks.

Khaybat is kind of trying to play catch up! She flies after the group, happy that she was still not inflated overly much with all those eggs her Senpai gave her the other day.

Bill is a weird otter, it is possible to see that as you all arrive at the site. Weird as in, mostly not an otter, actually entirely a fairly slim human so far as can be told from a distance.

There is a tent set up with a table inside it, Bill is looking over some blueprints for this apartment complex. He is wearing, conveniently for exposition, a shirt that says "I used to be an architect before I was an otter."

In spite of the claim made by his shirt, there is still, at this distance, no evidence that he is an Otter at all.

At the moment, he is doodling with a compass directly onto the surface of the folding table he is standing over. He barely looks up at Arris as shi introduces hirself to him, "Sorry, give me a moment if you don't mind." At Clef's notice of not being able to do heavy lifting, Bill looks up and raises an eyebrow at the nearly-half-otter, "Well, that's fine. Surveying this site won't be very strenuous. At most you might have to lift a thirty pound machine or dig a sample of soil with a trowel." After he reassures the Almost-Half-Otter, he returns to his process of circling up a perfectly good table with a compass. He does not ackowledge Uvi except his eyes angling up and then snapping back down, a tension entering his stature, giant skunk not adding much his tumult, continuing to avoid looking up. He inhales deeply then forces himself to look up, seeming less alarmed once he realizes that a giant snake has not just joined his project.

He looks up at the group, finally bothering to address them, his voice is quiet and mid-toned, "Oh. Hi. I'm Bill. Thanks for coming out today, we're not doing much work on the construction itself, but we've got to survey the land and modify the designs accordingly. We've got some tools for that, and we've got some tools for doing some soil sampling just to be sure that the nanites haven't eaten the ground out from under us. Any questions"

He gestures over to the corner of the tent, in which sits a pair of Total Stations and a couple of trowels set into plastic buckets with numbers on them. They are accompanied by cans of white spray paint

"Sure thing. Let me know once you're ready, alright?" With that, Arris steps out of the tent... and comes face-to-face with the goosnake. "Oh, hello. Err... have we met before?" Sie gives Uvi a sheepish smile, not particularly used to this close of a contact with a stranger.

Clef gave Bill a little nod, a bit of tension in his shoulders visibly relaxing - truthfully, he wasn't entirely sure what he was walking into, he was just hoping to be helpful in some way. "A-aye aye," he simply said in response, moving towards one of the total stations and placing two hands on it before pausing for a couple seconds. "Erm, h-how does this thing work...?" he asked bashfully, not wanting to break anything by trying to figure it out himself.

Uvi blushes innocently and winks to Arris, before she turns herself to Bill, and says, "Y-yes, I d-do have a question. F-first - is the area safe? Aaand second - do we need any more equipment? I may have some things delivered here by a drone from my workshop." She smiles and tilts her head, awaiting a response.

Talia looked over the little buckets and trowels. She then smiled a little as she raised her middle right paw before speaking up. "Is it permissable to dig with my paws for the sample acquisition dear?" She clicked her metal claws together and rubbed them back and forth before lowering her giant paw-like hand to her side again. She was always mindful of her surroundings though. That was why she did not immediately walk over to the total station that she would be using for this effort. She then nodded and smiled as she used her eyes to study the tools at hand while she awaited further instructions.

Civeaux moves around to Bill's side of the table, glancing at the blueprints. They study the grid, looking at where the plans called for waterpipes. After a few moments of analysis, Civeaux gives up in frustration. "B-excuse me, Bill? Where are we running the water? I can't seem to locate them on your plans, here... Unless you'd have me sample every last square meter?" They heft at their large duffle. "Your protocol, not mine." They glance about the rest of the motley crew here, before realizing they'd yet to introduce themselves. "Pardon me--I like to get straight to business. My name's Civeaux--I do work for Zephyr, primarily, but love to get out of the lab and do actual fieldwork."

Khaybat goes to land just in time for the mutant to start talking! The dragoness is all ;_; faced at missing the bus to get here though she doesn't appear to mae a fuss of it otherwise and just tries to figure out what is going on.

The area has been somewhat cleared. There's rubble here and there, but it's all shorter than a foot or two, nearly all of the soil is accessible without having to deal with concrete or bricks. There are sets of measurement targets located at the corners of the lot, their oddly reflective X's probably meant for usage with the total stations. Bill looks at Civeaux skeptically, "Believe it or not, that comes after we set the foundation up. Besides, the old sewage and water system works just well enough to fix. Sampling should be sufficient if you do it for one sample every... let's say 3 meters in each direction. Number the samples and mark the area with spray paint. If there's an issue in one of them, we'll sample more closely, but it should work out." he looks up at Talia, "As for how you dig, I don't think it matters, don't take too much soil though." Then turns to Uvi, "Yeah. It's safe. I'm not exactly much of a fighter myself, the patrol came through earlier to make sure I was alright here."

Once sie sees the group leaving the tent, Arris takes that as hir cue to follow after. As Bill gives out his instructions, the gator would tilt hir head at them. "Errr... alright, so we... we go and sample the ground, mark where we got the samples, and... that's it. Sounds simple enough? I'm not familliar with housebuilding." As the group would begin to inevitably disperse to get working, Arris would trail after Uvi.

Clef stared over at the back of Bill's head for a few moments before turning back to the total station, figuring he may have to figure things out after all. He eyed the thing up for a moment and pondered how best to lift it before awkwardly hugging it by the base with a huff, turning around and walking towards the opening of the tent with it. "Hi Civeaux my name's Clef good to meet you," he greeted quickly as he walked by, stepping out of the tent and pausing for just a moment while he decided where to actually put the thing down.

Uvi grabs two spraycans and hides them into her pockets, and also lifts. She asks, "Hey, can someone strong take the second station? I should know how to use them~." She smiles and exits the tent after she waves at quite handsome Bill.

Talia softly smiled as she waited for the others to filter out of the tent before she followed after them with the Total Station fitting inside one of her paw-like hands like a toy. The bucket in another paw-like hand and her remaining hands were free. Naturally she simply chuckled and picked up Uvi's as well. She had her advantages for being gigantic. Namely it made lifting heavy objects a cinch. She followed them out to survey the area first before they started work.

Khaybat goes to follow after the others though she is still queque eyeing after missing the group transport out to the dig site. At least she's not overly heavy with eggs yet! Wait, where did those pom poms come from? And we're not talking about the ones on her chest either!

Nodding at Bill, "I thought we tested for corrosive materials before connecting to any existing infrastructure. Forgive me!" They proceed in grabbing a simple trowel along with a spray can, before following after the rest of the group. They begin to speak up, "My work shouldn't affect your engineering calculations. If you folks need me, I'll be starting at A1..." they say, as they begin walking towards the corner of the construction site.

Bill looks at Uvi inquiringly, wondering if she understands what the particular meaning of Otter is. It suddenly dawns on him and he puts his face in his hands once he realizes that since there are some people who are Otters in a more literal sense, his shirt doesn't communicate as much as he had hoped. His emotions swirling down into agony as he realizes that he still hasn't escaped being a heartthrob for women. The ground outside the tent is soft from the mist and the weather, it should be easy to collect samples.

Arris begins taking cues from the other group members and starts collecting samples of the ground around hir, using the spraycan to mark the locations sie collected from.

With another quick glance around the lot, Clef went over to the corner of it, setting down the station with another huff. He gave the thing another cursory look up and down before pointing it towards one of the X marks, fiddling with the display on the back. "Hmm... alright, I... think I've got this..." he commented to himself, rotating it around towards a different mark. "U-um, if you guys need help, let me know!" he called out to some of the others nearby, hoping that he was at least doing something useful with the station.

Uvi can't really do any manual labor because of her location, so she just looks around and tries to make sure everything goes smoothly, and samples are collected and tagged properly. She's also humming a strange, foreign sounding melody.

Talia followed Uvi out while carrying both of their total stations on top of her other supplies. She surveyed how everyone was picking their excavation tracks before settling on a row that ran parallel to theirs. She did place Uvi's total station whereever the lamia requested she set it down first. Then she focused on her own row while using the others to roughly ascertain where she needed to stop and dig. She stopped and reached down while using her forepaw to rake the soil before her giant fingers tore into the ground and scooped out handfuls to put in the buckets. Naturally she was one to follow directions. She then marked the bucket with a number and finally spray painted the spot.

Civeaux works their way out to the center of the plot, dropping their duffelbag to the ground. They kneel down on the earth and jab the trowel down, before pulling up a good bit of dirt. The set their trowel beside them, and produce a small plastic flask, which they fill with the loose dirt. They snap the lid back onto the thumb-sized container, filing it into their duffle. They continue working slowly, pulling out a complicated device to do deep-sediment scans--probably unnecessary, but part of his training in biological analyses.

Meanwhile Khaybat is doing her best to keep the others from getting bored with her pompom usage. Although at this point it's hard to tell if she's really doing it more for the group or to keep her own 'oooh shiny' mind from getting distracted.

Bill stops fiddling with the compass, leaving it behind in the tent before striding out into the waning daylight. He surveys the site, in a less than methodical way, mostly becaues he's surveying it in the manner of someone looking it over, rather than taking measurements. He seems to have recovered from his suffering.

Arris scoops up a pinch of dirt from the ground. As sie un-bends over, the ground shifts and creates shallow sinkhole, startling the gator. "Waugh! I'm alright! I'm alright..." Sheepishly laughing it off, sie takes the sample to one of the stations.

Using the station, Clef took measurements between several of the marked points, pausing briefly whenever someone passed in the way of his station's beam. He made sure to very thoroughly measure from each mark to each other one, perhaps getting even more detail than he needed. In the middle of his collection, his eyes turned towards Arris as sie found a little sinkhole - well, that may be a problem, huh? "Erm... maybe poke around for some more of those," he advised the others - it was much more of a suggestion than an order. Clearly, -someone- wasn't quite a born leader.

Uvi gets alarmed when Arris falls down, but climbs off the giant mephitaur and thanks her for the ride. She slithers up to the total station and attempts to use it to take measurements, as she says, "Okay, I got this. Right. Lets see.." She peeks through the device, swaying her jello-hips. She also sticks out her slick tongue, probably because she gets rather focused.

Uvi gets alarmed when Arris falls down, but quickly relaxes when she sees that Arris is alright. She climbs off the giant mephitaur and thanks her for the ride. She slithers up to the total station and attempts to use it to take measurements, as she says, "Okay, I got this. Right. Lets see.." She peeks through the device, swaying her jello-hips. She also sticks out her slick tongue, probably because she gets rather focused.

Talia frowned a bit as the dirt was crumbling in her paw-like hands and thus it was made a little more difficult to fill the buckets than she had initially anticipated. She did pause when she heard the outcry that sounded from Arris at the distressing discovery of a sinkhole. She would have run over had there been an injury on the jobsite. However, it looked as if all was well. Instead, she focused on loading up her total station and opperating the device alongside of Uvi. "Mmmnn, this soil is quite fine dear. I am uncertain whether that is a good thing or a bad thing." She stated before she looked to Uvi to hear her thoughts.

Civeaux is focused on their menial task, methodically moving about, drawing 2 samples each, one materially and one electronically, before tagging the small hole with a clear ring of spray paint. They look up to see one of their comrades stumbling abit. They seem to rebalance, and everything is okay. If it were significant, surely they would be making more of a commotion of things. Civeaux finishes up another few plots, having tested five thus far.

Khaybat just stares when Arris manages to sink into the ground from her own weight. The dragoness is kind of happy she's not any bigger or that might happen to her!

Bill walks over to Arris rapidly, but does not run. He shakes his head, "Well, it appears that the concerns over the soil quality were quite well founded" He shakes his head again, rubbing his temples, "If this is what the rest of the soil is going to be like, we're going to have to figure out some remediation strategies. I don't suppose you agents have any ideas on that front?"

"Well, I... hm." Arris rubs hir snout. "Sorry, I'm no good at engineer stuff, haha. Hopefully we have someone who is in the group...?" With a sheepish grin, sie looks amongst hir peers.

Clef gave a scratch at his chin, tilting his head slightly. "We could, uh... well, we'd need another way to support the foundation, I guess..." he supplied, not knowing exactly -how- to do that. "Maybe if we kinda... stretch it out over the land so it's on good soil too? But then it still wouldn't be supported in the middle..." He was mostly just rambling to himself in the latter suggestion, knowing that wasn't entirely struturally sound.

After she completes taking the measurements and writing them down, jello-lamia girl thinks for a while and she speaks up, "I know what to do~! Because building conditions here are not stable enough, the usual thing that should be done is to build pilings deep under the foundation that act as pillars to hold the buildings up. Constructing them shouldn't be a really big problem too, since we can use builder nanites, or even use the earth nanomagic to construct the pillars from soil..." She pauses for a moment to take a breath, then she quickly adds, "...Aaaand I have a lot of nanites, and I know someone who knows how to use earth nanomagic. Right?~" Uvi smiles and puts her hands on her hips. She looks really, really proud of herself. She also quickly adds, "Please don't stare at my tail."

Talia softly laughed after clapping her paw-like hands excitedly. "That sounds like a wonderful idea my dear. Also, I will stare at your tail only because I think you have a cute butt." She giggled and gave a wink to Uvi before she tossed her shoulders up and went with the flow. Her engineering abilities were limited to designing medical supplies and equipment. She couldn't profess a particular savy at building construction.

Fills up the last one of their soil vials, sealing and placing it in a marked bag, within their duffle. They seal the bag, slipping it over their shoulder. "I think that should do for today, eh, Boss?" they look at Bill for suggestion. "I'm out of testing vials for today, anyhow--I need to get these to the lab and we can resume when they're more daylight...?" Civeaux looks to the rest of the group now, expectantly.

Bill nods at Arris, "That's not so much an issue. It's a hard subject, I can understand that, especially for someone without training in it. I am, unfortunately, not a person with such training." Bill's reaction to Clef's suggestion is equivocal, "I don't know about that. I'd certainly not risk the project on that, good idea though." Bill nods slowly responding to Uvi, "I think I have to agree with the big lady here. It also sounds fairly familiar. I'll start looking into acquiring materials and expertise to do just that. Thank you." He pauses for a moment, "I think we've accomplished what you agents came here for today, I think we can call it a night. I think we'll manage from here though."
