(Firecracker) As you arrive on the scene, you see a raging fire consuming much of the croplands just inside the New Dawn palisades. Several guards are doing their best to fight the flames, running back and forth from a nearby well to pump water and toss it onto the fire, but are clearly on the losing side of this battle. A large group of onlookers stand in safety some distance away, watching while the fire destroys the crops.
(Greyson) Rushing to the front of the crowd, amidst the roaring flames, a haggard looking, bare wolfbeast thrusts his hands towards a pair of bystanders, voice raised, but not to the level of screaming, "Alright! Need everybody we can on buckets or we're gonna be importing for a while! I need anyone who can muster some elbow-grease helping get those buckets up to the front of the line!" He indicates the well, canting his head to the flames ahead, "Anyone who's got mutations that make them resistant to fire, people who can create water or ice, and anyone |else|, go out and see if you can get them to pitch in, don't wanna see anyone going hungry just because we sat around with our thumbs up our ass!"
(Sigrun) Far above the fire, a certain glassy magpie arrives on the scene and flies overhead. She frowns as she takes in the scenario. Rather than descend immediately, she instead circles overhead and focuses on trying to get a solid arial understanding of the situation. Where fires are located, where it might spread, and, importantly? If there is anyone STARTING new blazes. To her relief, the fire is contained to the one location and she doesn't spot any arsonist activity. For better or worse. She begins her descent, how at least confident she can lend help on the ground.
(Rulsk) Rulsk was working on the farms when the fire blazed up and springs into action quickly. The massive wolf bounds over in a flash of black fur to position himself between the raging flames and the walls of New Dawn and marshals his nanites, commanding them to quell the rising temperatures, using Thermal Nanomagics to prevent the spread of the fire. His area of control is not massive, but it helps create a safe working area for people to operate from and contains the direction the fires can spread.
(Firecracker) At Greyson's words, several people seem to snap out of their stupor, breaking from the group and following his directions to grab whatever they can find to help deliver water. Buckets are passed around and water tossed towards the flames while a few other people scramble off towards town to find more people willing to fight the flames.
From above, Sigrun's view of the area is somewhat hampered by the smoke in the sky, but she can determine that the fire is indeed in a singular area, spreading inwards towards the town and halted on the other side by a large wooden palisade and the river outside the wall.
When the giant timber wolf arrives on the scene, working his nanomagic like a bastion of defense, many of the impromptu firefighters gather around him for both the heat dispersion and the familiarity he provides. "Rulsk!" a nearby guard shouts up at him from below, "Great to see you here, but I think Quicksilver and Jax Wildheart are in there somewhere!"(Greyson) Apparently blinded in the shifting chaos of flames and bodies, Greyson fruitlessly searches for equipment, far more activity than he's used to, and with an entire settlement involved. Far better used to his work with smaller groups, the hapless lupine tries to worm his way backward through the increased number of aides, trying to get some distance between him, the blaze, and the procession.
(Sigrun) Sigrun descends from the heavens and lands in a roll, hopping to her feet and quickly walking forward, her voice ringing with authority. It helps that she's using the voice of a very stronk woman from some drama who was handling a similar situation in a drama she watched once. "Alright, people! Move it! Injured, that way! Anyone able to put the innocent before yourself, get to work! Everyone else! STOP GAWKING AND MOVE ON!" Birb has spoken.
(Rulsk) Rulsk folds his ears back and whines when he hears that two of his kids are trapped in the blaze. He whines and turns to start shoveling massive pawfuls of dirt at the fire, claws tearing huge gouges in the terrain and flinging tons of soil into the air behind him. As he frantically digs, he asks in a worried tone, "Where were they last seen? Are they safe? Oh no..."
Every truckload of dirt that flies through the air lands with a heavy thump, smothering the blaze anywhere it touches down. Bit by bit, the giant wolf backs towards the slowly receding fires, spreading the cover of dirt further and further. He maintains his Thermal Nanomagic, ensuring that the flames don't spark back up, his aura keeping the temperature from rising.
(Xerxia) A Wolfess Arrives Brandishing A Banner With A Medic's Cross On It And Starts Triage On The Wounded Making Sure To Render Aid To The Severely Injured Down To The Scrapes And Minor Injury's.
(Janex) A black-furred hound dressed in business casual edges his way out of the crowd of onlookers and hurries to the edge of the blaze, extending his paws outwards and curling his fingers as if to crush the flames. As he appears to successfully stamp out some of the flames, he clenches his teeth and squints, coughing from the plumes of smoke engulfing him.
(Firecracker) For Greyson, it seems that all hands on deck have already gotten all their hands on anything worth using, or at least anything that he could find worth using in the chaos of the firefighting. That very same chaos was being made a bit less chaotic as Sigrun started barking, or squawking, orders to run them more efficiently, setting up a triage area with Xerxia's banner to make it more obvious, and even having the group of firegazers disperse, albeit with some grumbling from the groups of interested eyes.
Rulsk's shoveling paws do their job, throwing heaps of dirt into the flames, smothering them on contact and slowly putting them out as time goes on. Nobody can answer Rulsk's questions right now, but before long, the group effort and the massive heaps of soil get the flames down to manageable levels. It's only a matter of time now before the fire is completely out, but with all the dirt tossing, where are those kids?
(Greyson) Deciding that the front lines had themselves covered, and unable to find anything that would be useful in quelling the blaze, the wolfbeast makes his way to the rally point, searching for those wounded writhing or shifting far too much to be treated, or those posing more danger to themselves or others than the dwindling flames beyond. It might just be a raised hand and a stern look, a careful word here and there, updates on their current conditions, or ferrying news of discovered loved ones, but sometimes that might be all it takes, the lupine at least finally finding something in his element for the time being.
