The Nanite Infection Strain Database (NISD) is a storage unit and interface allowing the player to store and trade samples of particular infections or willfully infect themselves with specific infection strains, thus acquiring specific forms. It is available to all player characters, but can be upgraded with Mako. It is accessed with the nisd or +nisd command tree (see below).

Infection samples are enumerated as vials, which are automatically extracted from fallen enemies after combat so long as a Nanite Collector is equipped. Depending on the quality of the Nanite Collector, the player will not necessarily extract a vial from every enemy.

Game Description

Nanite Infection Strain Database
In-Game Desc This device is the ultimate in infection vial storage! Type +NISD #help for the instruction manual.
Cost 50

The NISD is a storage device for nanite infection vials collected from ferals defeated in combat. All agents are issued with a basic NISD along with their comm device and other standard gear. Some additional upgrades are available for purchase.

Basic NISD
Standard issue, has a capacity of 1,000 vials per infection strain.
Mako NISD
Available from elite supplies stores at faction headquarters for 50 mako. Increases storage capacity to 100,000 vials per infection strain.
Advancement NISD
Available from elite supplies stores for 25 mako. Provides secure storage for the more aggressive boss nanite vials.

Edit notes

Mechanics

The standard NISD available to every player can hold 1,000 vials per infection strain with no known limit to how many strains may be sampled at once. This limit can be upgraded to 100,000 vials per strain with the Mako NISD (50 Mako).

Boss vials

Boss vials are necessary for characters to level up after level 30.

There are two kinds of boss vials: standard and adapted.

  • A standard boss vial, created from 200 regular vials, works within 5 levels of the vial.
  • An adapted boss vial, created from 400 regular vials, works at any level.

The NISD is not able to store boss vials without the Advancement NISD upgrade (25 Mako).

The Non-Violent Progress Perk allows pacifist players to (very slowly) bypass the boss vial requirement to level up.

Commands

All commands also work in the form +nisd.

nisd
Display a summary of the infection vials you currently have stored.
nisd #search here
nisd #search masterable
nisd #search <filter>
nisd #search <number>
List the vials you have that correspond to infections from ferals in your current location, contain infections you can master, that you have at least <number> of, or that contain infection names matching the regex filter <filter>, respectively.
nisd #setMasteryneeded <number>
Set the necessary number of vials to be considered masterable.
nisd/store <inventory position>=<number>
nisd/store <inventory position one>-<inventory position two>=<number>
Transfer a quantity of infection vials from your inventory to your NISD. The first form transfers one type of infection vial, the second transfers all the vials between two inventory positions. The inventory numbers are obtained from the inventory command.
nisd/extract <infection name>=<quantity>
Transfer a number of vials of the specified infection from your NISD back to your inventory.
nisd/consume <infection name>=<quantity>
Extract the specified vials from your NISD and consume them to adopt that infection.
nisd/consume Masterable
Consume the set number of vials necessary for mastering an infection on all acceptable infections.
nisd/transfer <infection name>=<person>=<quantity>
Transfer the specified vials to another player.
nisd upgrade <power name>=<upgrade name>=<infection name>=<quantity>
Upgrade the rating on a power upgrade (up to 25%) on an existing upgrade.
nisd distill <infection name>
Create a boss vial from 200 standard vials.
